About UCU:
Uganda
Christian University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological
College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College
trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The
local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
International partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The
Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the
College had the necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s,
the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the
higher education – not only of clergy but of other professionals as well.
Uganda Christian University was established in 1997.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The Front Desk Officer will ensure that the Kabale
    office is opened on time
  • Carry out general office administrative
    duties
  • Be in position to handle students and
    lecturers in a professional manner
  • Receive all incoming calls for University
    business and connect them to the right office extensions
  • Keeping the academic registrar’s diary and
    departmental diary
  • Receive visitors and clients who come to the
    office and direct them accordingly
  • Helping in the issuing of examination,
    identity and registration cards
  • Receiving, registering and stamping all
    incoming and outgoing mails
  • Promptly bringing to the attention of the
    Academic registrar any urgent maters for immediate action
  • Perform any other official duties as assigned
    by the Academic Registrar
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the UCU Front Desk
    Officer job placement must hold a Diploma in Secretarial Studies /Diploma in
    Public Administration from a recognized Institution of higher learning
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in an
    educational institution of higher learning
  • Computer literacy i.e. proficient in
    Microsoft packages and Internet
  • Must be knowledgeable about the work of
    admissions and records assistant
  • Must be a committed Christian.
