About US:
The
National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) was established on
the passing of the Uganda Registration of Persons Act, 2015. The Act was made
to  harmonise and consolidate the law on
registration of persons; to provide for registration of individuals and to
establish a national identification register. It provides for the mandatory
registration of all Ugandan citizens within Uganda and abroad as well as aliens
identification cards and for related matters.
Job Summary: The Assistant Accountant will be tasked by the National
Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) to write books, process
payments, handle cash and
keep
proper accounting records
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Write cash book and post entries.
  • Prepare payment vouchers and ensure that all
    supporting documents are attached thereto.
  • Keep petty cash and ensure that it is
    replenished regularly.
  • Support the Accountant in stock taking
    exercises and other duties.
  • File and take custody of accounting records.
  • Provide relevant financial information and
    guidance to clients in accordance with the guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned
    from time to time by the Accountant.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the National
    Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) Assistant Accountant job
    opportunity should hold an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business
    Administration or Accounting
  • Level II professional Accounting qualifications
    (ACCA, ACA, and CPA)
  • A minimum of three years’ work experience in
    a busy accounts office in a large reputable institution.
  • Practical experience in using computerised
    financial accounting packages.
  • Computer literacy skills including experience
    in use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written
    communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
    simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and professional
    competence.
  • Sound knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and
    regulations.
