for Accessible health, Communication and Education (PACE) is a Ugandan
indigenous health organization leading solutions in the health market through
the private sector. We deploy social marketing approaches to measurably improve
the health of Ugandans.
Job Summary: The Sales Officer will be tasked with the planning,
implementation and monitoring of innovative sales, marketing and distribution
activities that will lead to growth in sales of the PACE’s products while
developing solutions that resonate with customer needs and help achieving
PACE’s sales targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Implement marketing
strategies to ensure achievement of PACE goals.( Social Marketing)
  • Ensure each Key Account is well serviced with
    all relevant PACE products to avoid stock-outs; – Implement retail trade
    development and activations to increase sales volume and market share growth;
  • Ensure good product visibility and
    availability in all the stocking supermarkets and convenient stores
  • Create and Increase demand for PACE products.
  • The incumbent will identify and execute a
    merchandising strategy for Supermarkets and other prime channels,
    including negotiating for space with the outlet and executing displays;
  • Manage the supply chain through ordering,
    distribution and reconcile commodities and promotional materials to key
    accounts, institutions and other customers in the region.
2. Build capacity
(mentoring, coaching, and on –job training) of key accounts staff and PACE
staff to equip them with selling skills and understand our products better.
People and Culture
Management:
Implement sales and distributions activities for
the organization.
 Planning and Quality assurance:
  • Develop and submit (monthly, quarterly,
    annual) work plans and budgets for sales and marketing of socially
    marketed products;
  • Meet the set sales and distribution targets
    and submit reports weekly and comprehensive monthly reports against set
    objectives;
  • The incumbent will formulate and execute
    annual promotional plans for the key accounts;
3. Prepare budgets and
accountabilities for all sales and distribution activities in line with PACE’D
financial policies and procedures ( Financial Management)
4. Identify any potential
risks within the sales department and develop and oversee implementation of a
risk management plan; ( Risk Management)
Ensure
that all customers pay as per the PACE payment policy
5. Implement activities
to build goodwill (trust, PACE reputation, support), partnerships development,
advocacy and collaborations to promote health among Ugandans as per the PACE
mission (Partnerships and PR )
  • Build and maintain a network of Key Accounts
    and institutions to sell PACE products to meet organizational sales
    targets;
  • Prepare and submit quarterly updates on Key
    Accounts’ performance, competition, challenges and opportunities;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all
    Key accounts, institutions and other customers;
6. Identify document and
share success stories, lessons learnt and best practices to inform program
planning, implementation and institutional development. (Knowledge
Management) 
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Database of potential institutions (private,
    public and NGOs) by health area developed and up-to-date;
  • Timeliness and quality of reports
  • Work plans developed, implemented on schedule
    and monitored
  • Budgets not overspent or under spent
  • Achievement of sales targets (both individual
    and assigned distributor) on a monthly basis in the assigned regions
  • No stock outs of products in the region and
    low stock turnover
  • Good coverage, availability, penetration and
    quality of coverage of PACE’s products in assigned regions as measured by
    the MAP survey;
  • Timely submission of invoices monthly
  • Prompt payments from customers;
  • Outstanding debts not exceeding 30days
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidates should preferably hold Bachelor’s
    degrees in Sales, Business Administration, Commerce or marketing related
    field.
  • Valid national driving license with
    demonstrated ability to drive is a MUST
  • At least three years’’’ experience in sales
    related field
  • Previous experience with the private sector
    is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and
    communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong
    business relationships
  • Good report writing skills
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Analytical skills: Demonstrable ability to obtain and
    analyze market information
  • Demonstrable ability to identify customer
    needs and present benefits to meet customer needs and overcome objections
  • Team player: Ability to work effectively with
    other regional functions/teams in support of PACE customers
  • Negotiation skills, Selling and business
    acumen skills
