University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV research program
that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding
between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation for Advancement
of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The primary purpose of MUWRP is to
develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate disease threats of
public health importance to Uganda. Activities include; vaccine development and
building of vaccine testing capability in Uganda, conducting of epidemiological
and basic research and provision of HIV Treatment, care and support in Kayunga,
Mukono and Buvuma Districts.
Summary: The Field Research Supervisor will mentor and supervise the Research
Assistants for Makerere University Walter Reed Project in collecting field data
for various IE studies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensuring that enumerators are deployed for the
day’s work
Managing the delivery of supplies from the
headquarters to the field
Ensuring completeness of the data collected by the
enumerators in the day
Prepare and submit daily reports about the study
to the study coordinator and principle investigator
In charge of the maintenance and safety of the
materials and equipment
Understand, adhere and promote to MUWRP-PEPFAR
compliance standards as they appear in the HR policy manual, Code of Conduct,
and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by
the field supervisor, study coordinator or Principal Investigator.
Skills and Experience:
The suitable candidate for the Field Research
Supervisor career opportunity should hold a degree in social works and social
administration, or a Diploma in clinical medicine or any equivalent in a
related field.
Prior field research experience will be an added
advantage.
Prior experience in data collection and data
quality control
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Computer skills i.e. proficiency in using word,
excel and power point.
Additional training in Good clinical practice
would an advantage.
Be a team player and willing to work hard so as to
achieve the study goals and objectives.

Demonstrate good leadership and communication
skills
Experience working with HIV research institution.
Fluent in spoken Luganda, and spoken and written
English
