Broadcasting (U) Limited owns and operates NTV the number one TV station in
Uganda. We are a subsidiary of the
Nation Media Group, which is East & Central Africa’s largest multi-media
group.
part of NMG’s strategic and commercial function with the aim of championing the
diversification portfolio of ABUL in Uganda. The incumbent identifies gaps and
opportunities in the market, finds creative solutions through selecting
suitable programming content and preparing the station for smooth transmission.
It also entails planning the right programmes at correct slots, ensuring that
all commercial airtime runs as per booking order. The incumbent makes the station attractive to
viewers so as to increase the ratings loyalty and revenue opportunities for
NTV’s profitability.
Work in liaison with the Head of Marketing to
establish the brand positioning, personality & signature for NTV content
Develop brand attributes for product elements that
will govern programming elements for the channel
Define clear differentiators between main NTV
channel and other competing stations
Identify new streams and sources of unique content
and work with the team in building audiences & engagement across the
channel
Using an excellent understanding of the key drivers
of market share; execute an audience development strategy to cross promote,
drive streams that cover all avenues (Digital revenues)
Deliver the best content experience possible by
using audience insights, in-depth analysis, and
industry & competitor trends
Work closely with internal and external partners to
determine content direction through creative brainstorming around content;
experimenting with new formats & providing feedback on what’s working
Ensures correct time (program scheduling) is
maintained on TV station
Provide analysis and insights to executive team on
content performance and revenue projections
The job holder sources and maintains contacts in the
program supplier market
Develops and implements competitive strategy for TV
station programming
The ideal candidate for the NTV Head of Programming
job placement should hold a Basic University degree
Significant experience in broadcasting is strongly
preferred (Product and technical side)
Excellent multi-tasking ability and attention to
detail is essential
High degree of personal resilience
Broad knowledge and understanding of confidentiality
around critical business information
Good knowledge and understanding of audience drivers
and viewership dynamics
High business acumen and street smart.
Demonstrable ‘expert eye’ for video content creation
Excellent understanding of the TV industry works
including the interfaces between brands, content creators / owners, audiences
and advertisers and synergy with digital trends
Proven multi-cultural understanding / affinity
