The Uganda
National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament; The
Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on 1st
July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to develop and maintain the national roads network,
advise Government on general roads policy and contribute to addressing of
transport concerns, among others.
Job Summary: The Fleet
assistants will be responsible for vehicle operations including transporting
officers and delivering mail/goods; vehicle maintenance including daily checks,
checking insurance validity, reporting damage or malfunction, ensuring security
and cleanness of the vehicle. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible
for accounting for fuel issued and maintaining and updating the logbook at all
times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Make sure that all vehicles are maintained in a cost
effective and efficient manner and repaired as needed in order to support
Organizational activities;
·        
Organize and run the maintenance schedules and
report damage or malfunction of the vehicles to the Administration
Officer-Transport and Logistics;
·        
Conduct daily assessment of the vehicle using the
approved checklist to maintain the highest level of standards;
·        
Update the fleet management system with vehicle
details, allocation and returned vehicle details as appropriate.
·        
Ensure security of the vehicle;
·        
Ensure that the vehicle assigned is clean at all
times;
·        
Maintain and update vehicle logbook at all times;
·        
Carry out regular checks for validity of insurance
and First Aid box contents.
·        
Perform any other duties as assigned by the
Administration Officer-Transport and Logistics;
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicants must possess an Ordinary Level
Certificate of Education or the equivalent in any other relevant field.
Applicants with A’ level certificate have an added advantage;
·        
The Fleet assistants should be experienced in
driving different types of vehicles including road equipment (i.e. with Valid Driving
permits classes; B, CM, CH, DL, DM, DH, E, G, H)
·        
At least five years’ experience in operating and
maintaining vehicles in a similar organization.
·        
Experience in Defensive driving and certification in
driving of road equipment will be an added advantage.
·        
High level of integrity;
·        
Proven track record of outstanding performance;
·        
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team;
·        
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
·        
Excellent interpersonal, particularly staff /
management relations;
·        
Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely
manner;
·        
Ability to work in an environment with multiple and
challenging tasks.
·        
Age: Below 45 years
