grassroots and policy levels that young people can  and must play a lead role in development. Over
the past five years, Restless Development has more than tripled the size of its
budgets and programmes, and has been repeatedly cited as a model of best
practice in youth-led development by the World Bank, DFID, UNICEF and others.
About Feed the Future Program:
Feed the
Future, the U.S. Government’s global hunger and food security initiative, is establishing
a foundation for lasting progress against global hunger. The Feed the Future Uganda
Youth Leadership for Agriculture is a 5 year Activity which will support
Ugandan partners, with youth in the lead, to identify and drive forward
sustainable, inclusive, and cost-effective approaches that put youth,
especially female youth, squarely in the agriculture sector as leaders,
farmers, entrepreneurs, and employees. The purpose of this flagship activity is
to increase economic opportunities for approximately 350,000 Ugandan female and
male youth ages 10 to 35 in agriculture-related fields, in order to increase
their incomes and build their entrepreneurship, leadership, and workforce readiness
skills. This activity is implemented by Chemonics International in partnership
with Restless Development.
Job Summary:  The Skills Development Manager for the Restless
Development Program will work in liaison with the skills Development Specialist
and the Private Sector Partnerships Manager to coordinate YLA activities that
support the transformation of youth into high-quality workers and equip them with
the skills and practical experience required to gain employment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
1.
Improve Skills and Competencies for Youth through:
·        
In charge of mapping and documenting extra and
co-curricular models and partnerships for technical, workforce readiness, leadership,
and entrepreneurship skills development through  productive partnerships amongst public and
private sector actors.
·        
In charge of identifying opportunities and
facilitating youth participation in community forums for youth leadership in
agriculture (e.g. peer mentoring, peer-to-peer support, multimedia training,
agribusiness competitions, outreach activities, debates, and volunteerism).
·        
Responsible for designing mechanisms for
disseminating SRH messages to youth clubs, adapt SRH materials for parents and influential
community members
·        
Build and strengthen linkages between health service
providers, practitioners and in and out of school youth.
2.
Identify and facilitate partnerships and collaboration between key actors:
·        
Promote collaboration between youth, private sector
firms, and educational and training institutions to identify interests and
priorities on market-driven skills development and jobs needs.
·        
Facilitate productive partnerships between public
and private actors to build institutional and organizational capacity of
youth-led organizations in agriculture related activities.
·        
Build linkages between youth, private and public
sector actors, and research initiatives to increase access to improved and/or
new technologies for youth; and Identify, leverage, and expand youth-led ICT
database applications to create a platform for information sharing and
networking

Support monitoring evaluation and learning to track performance, measure the
attainment of results and provide evidence that enhances collaboration,
learning and adapting of the key components of this activity:
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicant should hold a bachelor’s Degree in
agri-business development, development studies, childhood development,
education or other relevant field
·        
A minimum of three years’ experience designing and
delivering youth skills development programs
·        
Proven exposure and experience in Agribusiness and
Microenterprise
·        
Proven experience working with private sector
·        
The successful Individual must be
results-orientated, innovative, creative, and have demonstrated analytical
skills and ability to communicate effectively.
·        
The ideal candidate will be familiar with market
based agricultural programs targeting youth and will demonstrate skills and
ability to mentor youth.
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills
·        
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with a variety
of stakeholders.
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of contemporary
development issues particularly those related to economic opportunities for youth
·        
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and make
sound operational decisions
·        
Excellent organizational, written and verbal
communication skills
·        
Prior experience with Monitoring and Evaluation
systems and research
·        
Strong computer literacy with full knowledge of
office applications
·
