Job Summary:  The Operations and Maintenance Coordinator
will be responsible for the technical and programmatic oversight of all
operations and maintenance activities, working with local’ government to
identify and address the factors affecting sustainable delivery of rural water
services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Providing support at all levels of local government
to fulfill their responsibilities with regard to functionality of water
services, including facilitating training; strengthening Hand Pump Mechanics
Associations as viable enterprises so they can undertake maintenance and
repairs of handpumps;
·        
The incumbent will work closely with the communities
to improve their ability to manage water systems.
·        
The job holder will also develop and implement
strategies to address these issues drawing on documented best practice in
Uganda and internationally, as well as their own expertise.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree or equivalent in Civil or Public Health Engineering.
·        
At least five years’ practical experience in implementing
WASH programmes with an NGO.
·        
Previous experience in working with district local
government and local civil society organisations.
·        
Familiarity with concepts including community based
management systems, life-cycle costs analysis and the service delivery approach
of water provision.
·        
Proficiency with engineering software such as
AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Epanet and MS Office is an advantage.
·        
Excellent written and spoken English is required.
