Job Summary: The Information
Technology Officer will mainly be responsible for assisting the program staff
to maximize output from the IT infrastructure by providing information and
education to familiarize them with the infrastructure and Path IT policy.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
The incumbent will ensure that the data and document
management systems are always available including performing backups to
minimize data loss.
·        
Quickly respond to all staff IT related emergencies
and provide program networks troubleshooting.
·        
Create and with approval, implement new services.
·        
Provide hardware repairs as well as software
upgrades services for the program.
·        
Technically support the procurement of IT related
equipment and services.
·        
Mentor and train all computer and electronic
equipment users to improve efficiency and minimize errors and faults.
·        
Work in liaison with staff in Uganda and at head office
to resolve challenges related access related to PATH computer systems.
·        
Keep the supervisor fully informed on a daily basis
of all problems related to hardware and advise what steps are being taken to
resolve any problems.
·        
Organize quarterly meetings to brief the supervisor,
discuss any performance issues and provide information and feedback concerning
IT operations in the project.
·        
Keep in contact with and manage the program IT
issues in close consultation with and support from the Path IT team (Regional
and Headquarters).
·        
Schedule for preventive maintenance of all IT
equipment and supervise the same.
·        
Maintain an up to date IT inventory record of all IT
equipment both on- and off-site.
·        
Work in liaison with the ISP to ensure continued
availability of the Internet.
·        
Liaise with the supervisor on allocation of IT
equipment (Desktops, Laptops and Printers) to users.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate should hold a Degree in
Information Technology or relevant field
·        
A minimum of five years’ experience in IT related
field, three years in NGOs.
·        
Possession of professional IT Certification i.e. Microsoft,
Cisco or A+ certification desirable.
·        
Skills in managing proper functioning of LAN,
Server, the E-mail system and internet connectivity, ensuring that there is
software resource availability.
·        
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·        
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
·        
Excellent communication skills in English.
·        
Additional skills in any other fields will be an
added advantage e.g. fleet management, procurement etc.
NB: The applicant must be legally authorized to work in
Uganda.
