Afrika (AMwA) is an international, Pan-African, non-governmental development
organisation for African women with its Head Office in Kampala, Uganda.
AMwA was
established in 1985 as a small community-based organisation, which sought to
create a space for African women to organise autonomously, network with each
other, share skills and expertise, identify issues of concern and speak for
themselves, which was essential considering their position as migrants and
refugees in the UK.
Job Summary:  The Finance Intern will support the AMwA
finance Officer with accounts receivable, payable and bank statement
reconciliation. The incumbent will also be responsible for preparing and
reporting financial transactions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Support in filing all AMwA payments,
accountabilities and ensure all paid documents are stamped.
·        
The incumbent will prepare office and other bills as
per laid down procedures of the organization
·        
Support in verifying invoices and requisitions and
ensure that adequate supporting documents are in place before any payment is
made
·        
Responsible for petty cash reimbursements.
·        
Work closely with Finance Officer in updating all
cash books
·        
Work with Finance Officer during the audit process
period
·        
Produce monthly bank reconciliations
·        
Render support in the preparation of AMwA Staff
payroll
·        
Ensure that transactions posted are properly
classified
·        
Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the
Finance Officer from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The Intern should preferably hold a good University
degree
·        
Possess the ability to work under minimum
supervision;
·        
Willingness to learn: ask where you do not know,
read where you do not know;
·        
Ability to produce to send monthly activity reports
showing tasks, results, and tasks not done and why.
NB: A modest fee
will be given to cover the Intern’s transport and meals.
