About GISU:
Galaxy
International School Uganda (GISU) is a co-educational school which provides
international education to students between 2 and 19 years of age. From kindergarten
to year 13 students are taught using student-centred methods. Emphasis is on
the development of the whole person. Students in years 10 and 11 are prepared
for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
examination and those in years 12 and 13 are prepared for Cambridge A level
examination. These examinations administered by Cambridge International
Examinations (CIE) are recognised worldwide. The school is privately owned with
a Board of Governors and the day to day running of the school is managed by the
Principal. The school is staffed with qualified and experienced staff from UK,
USA, Canada, Turkey and East Africa.
Job Summary: The Admis1sions
Administrator will be a member of a team of admissions professionals with responsibility
for the recruitment and admissions of students.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Applications:
·        
The incumbent will manage the admissions while
working in liaison with academic departments, applying agreed criteria to make
admissions decisions consistently and fairly.
·        
Handle telephone and email inquiries from
prospective students, their parents, teachers and advisers independently and in
a timely and professional manner.
·        
Work closely with both academic and administrative
staff.
2.
Inquiries & Recruitment
:
·        
Manage all inquiries in a courteous and helpful way;
these may be by telephone, email, letter, fax or in person.
·        
Actively monitor Request Tracker, queues and help
collate data relating to all admissions inquiries.
·        
Render support in the monitoring and updating of all
information relating to admissions.
3.
Assist with the provision of on-the-job training for new staff.
·        
Maintain a tidy and organised work area.
·        
The incumbent will also process expenses and
invoices.
·        
Responsible for filing, photocopying, ordering
stationary.
·        
Attend and minute meetings.
·        
In addition they may be required by their manager to
carry out any other duty commensurate with their grading and expertise.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate must hold a good Bachelor’s or
Master’s degree from a recognised university
·        
At least a year of relevant experience
·        
Excellent track record of generalist administrative
experience
·        
The job holder should have a high degree of
judgement and initiative with strong administrative and excellent interpersonal
skills.
·        
Experience of working in a customer focused
environment
·        
Prior experience of providing information &
advice
·        
Broad awareness of good data management practice
e.g. Freedom of Information, Data Protection
·        
Thorough knowledge of data management legislation
and good practice including Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts
Skills
·        
Computer literacy skills with experience of MS Word,
Excel and email packages
·        
A confident user of databases and reporting tools
·        
Ability to work with speed and accuracy
·        
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·        
Maintain professional attitude
·        
Commitment to high quality customer service
·        
Show commitment to continuous improvement of the
customer’s experience
·        
Responsive to problems and complaints
·        
Able to be helpful and supportive of other team

·
