bicycles to increase accessibility to critical resources, facilitate community
cooperation, and build financial management skills among low income
entrepreneurs. Bicycles Against Poverty (BAP) will have over 1,000 active
bicycle loans and will be adding new products to our line by September.
and Business Manager will provide support to the company’s finances, including
its credit books, financial systems, and accounting for a growing social
enterprise. This position is well-suited for anyone who has a previous
track-record in loan management and loves the start-up environment.
Operations, Loan Analysis, & Risk Management:
Work closely with BAP’s bookkeeper to run financial
reports and analyze results
Identify and help implement technological
improvements for loan and client management
Manage BAP’s credit book, which by September will
have over 1,000 active loans
Streamline and ensure proper communication of
financial KPIs throughout the company and to the customers
Offer technical oversight of procurement of
asset-financed products
Financial Strategy & Modeling:
Work in liaison with BAP’s ED to maintain and manage
quarterly budgets
Strategize, build and implement the appropriate
financial models to both analyze data and have it integrate within other
departments
Ensure financial systems flow throughout the
company, including designing and implementing the appropriate processes and
systems when necessary
Being able to work with other team members to bring
them up to speed about this is a critical component
Manage the back-end details of BAP’s external
investor fundraising round
Send recommendations on the process when necessary
Experience:
A minimum of two years of demonstrated financial
experience, including loan management
The applicant should be a flexible, dynamic, and
hard-working individual who embraces changing environments.
Fast-paced and ability to multi-task
High degree of flexibility and able to work on
diverse teams
Broad knowledge and interest in using business
solutions to solve pressing social issues
Willing and eager to work non-traditional business
hours to ensure tasks are completed
Previous work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
Preference given to those with experience at an MFI
Proficient in technology platforms in order to help
BAP implement new program(s) for loan management and/or mobile phone systems
Strong grasp of accounting theory and practice
Highly systems-oriented
Proactive and demonstrated leadership experience
Excellent communication skills
Passionate about instituting a data-driven culture
Strong technical and computer skills, including with
at least one financial management software
