About LASPNET:
The Legal Aid Service Providers Network (LASPNET) is a national
member-based Non-Governmental Organisation established in Uganda to harness,
strengthen, and sustain synergies among Legal Aid Service Providers (LASPs) in
complementing Government of Uganda’s efforts for enhancing access to justice.
Therefore, the LASPNET Secretariat coordinates the implementation of shared
activities among LASPs with major focus on improving the quality of service
delivery, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, policy reform approaches,
capacity building initiatives, and various strategic mechanisms in setting
legal aid agenda.
Job Summary: The
Research and Advocacy Officer will support Legal Aid Service Providers
Network (LASPNET) in the improvement of
its evidence-based actions with members and stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Play
    a key role in the identification of advocacy issues and implement advocacy
    plan and strategies
  • In
    charge of building and maintain network linkages and partnerships with
    internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee
    the legislative lobbying function
  • Take
    a lead role in media and public-relations activities to contribute to
    raising the profile of LASPNET
  • Carry
    out periodic researches on identified critical issues for LASPNET
  • In
    charge of planning and implementing project activities related to research
    activities and the research agenda of LASPNET and prepare periodic
    research project reports.
  • Work
    collaboratively with the Information, Documentation and Communication
    Officer to contribute information and writings to LASPNET’s publications
  • Technically
    support the programmes department in preparation of proposals for funding
    from donor organisations
  • Perform
    any other related tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
    Sociology/Social Work, Law, Development Studies, Economics, Project
    Management Studies,
  • A
    minimum of four or more years’ experience in a related field within the
    local or international NGO sector.
  • Working
    knowledge of the Justice, Law and Order Sector including published work on
    Access to Justice.
