Reports to: Results and
Communications Manager
The Legal Aid Service Providers Network (LASPNET) is a national
member-based Non-Governmental Organisation established in Uganda to harness,
strengthen, and sustain synergies among Legal Aid Service Providers (LASPs) in
complementing Government of Uganda’s efforts for enhancing access to justice.
Therefore, the LASPNET Secretariat coordinates the implementation of shared
activities among LASPs with major focus on improving the quality of service
delivery, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, policy reform approaches,
capacity building initiatives, and various strategic mechanisms in setting
legal aid agenda.
Job Summary:   The
Information, Communication and Documentation Officer will mainly ensure
up-to-date information through documentation and dissemination.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In
    charge of the development of a documentation system and controls, that
    provide the necessary feedback and amplify the voice on key issues
  • In
    charge of making a communication strategy and guidelines for LASPNET
  • Write
    and produce quality communication materials in order to maintain and
    effective national presence for LASPNET
  • Carry
    out the quality assurance responsibility in all communication and documentation
  • Work
    closely with the website host and IT support providers for the Secretariat
  • In
    charge of building strengthening and maintaining relationships with the
    media, key stakeholders and partners
  • In
    charge of documenting all such proceedings and cause to keep such reports
  • Ensure
    timely and effective dissemination of information to the stakeholders
  • Technically
    support management in communication, advocacy and representation needs
  • In
    charge of organizing public relations or media events
  • Work
    closely with and keep the membership well satisfied with the required and
    relevant information at all times and also have prospective members
    brought on board
  • Responsible
    for the development and management of LASPNET resource centre.
  • Perform
    any other related tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    Information, Communication and Documentation Officer should hold a
    Bachelor’s Degree in mass communication or other related degree in
    Sociology/Social Work, Law, Development Studies, Economics,  IT, or Library Science.
  • A
    minimum of four years’ experience in a related field within the local or
    international NGO sector.
  • Working
    knowledge of the Justice, Law and Order Sector including information on
    key actors in legal aid.
