Non-Governmental Organisation working in Uganda since 1998. Its mission is to
assist in rebuilding the livelihoods of peoples who are affected by human
conflict or natural disaster. We operate in 15 countries in Africa and Asia.
Our community based programme in Uganda concentrates on Food Security,
Livelihoods/Economic Development, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Vocational
Training, Education and Peace Building and is implemented in close cooperation
with local organizations and local government.
About Project:
ZOA International is
implementing a four-year project funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign
Affairs under the Human Security budget envelope. In Amudat, we concentrate on
‘Land and Water for Human Security’. Outcomes to be reached:
  • Increased
    trust and cooperation among and within the various groups
  • Reduction
    in conflict over land and water
  • Increased
    utilization of alternative livelihood resources and formal &
    non-formal education systems
Job Summary: The Manager
will oversee a multi-disciplinary project that combinec livelihoods,
peacebuilding, (civic) education realms and needs to have hydro/geological
knowledge to be successful in reaching the outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The
    incumbent will plan, organize, manage and implement activities the project
  • Ensure
    monitoring and reporting of projects in line with stringent donor
    requirements
  • As
    budget holder, the incumbent will be in charge of the financial cash flow
    planning and expenditure monitoring
  • Significantly
    contribute to preparation and planning of projects and provide input for
    new proposals
  • Motivate
    and stimulate and supervise staff
  • Mentor
    and coach the partners and engage in organizational development of the
    partner organizations
  • Build
    and strengthen working relationships with all relevant actors in programme
    area with focus on systematic and structural capacity strengthening of
    relevant counterpart structures
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    incumbent should preferably hold a Master’s degree in human security,
    livelihoods, peace building, education or other relevant field
  • A
    minimum of five years’ experience in multi-year project management in post
    conflict areas.
  • Proven
    leadership qualities with effective external and internal coordination
    skills
  • Self
    motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Proven
    report writing and M&E skills
  • GIS
    mapping skills and hydrological knowledge is an added advantage
  • Excellent
    command of English, Swahili or Pokot is an added advantage
  • Willingness
    to work and live in Amudat district
