Build Africa Uganda (BAU) is an
International NGO that has done development work for the last thirty years. BAU
programmes in Uganda focus on income improvement and support to education
improving the quality of Education and income sources for communities with
cross-cutting themes in HIV/AIDS and gender. BAU currently works in the
districts of Kumi, Ngora, Paliisa, Kibuku, Bugiri, Oyam, Bukedea, Masindi,
Kiryandongo and Buliisa.
Job Summary:  The Project Officer – STEPS project will
support BAU through the provision of technical and operational oversight for
the project implementation and will be expected to continually observe the
day-to-day effectiveness of the project delivery, noting and reporting any
areas where improvements are possible. The incumbent will work on the project
in carrying out the agreed project activities, including Monitoring, Evaluation
and Learning (MEL) activities, and monitoring and reviewing project impact.
S/he will work closely with the project partners; will be a member of the
project implementation team. This post also supports planning and design
processes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    Project Officer – STEPS should preferably hold a degree (Education,
    Development Studies, Social work and Community based development)
  • A
    minimum of three years of related work experience
  • Past
    exposure and experience in managing education community based projects
    with a focus on early grade reading or early childhood development
  • Working
    knowledge and experience of MEL approaches, methods and tools
  • Comprehensive
    knowledge and understanding of project cycle management
  • Past
    exposure and experience of direct working with communities
  • Be
    a person of high integrity that will model BAU’s core values.
  • Ability
    to ride a motorcycle with a valid Rider’s permit
