Job Summary:  The Field Engineer will support the Commodity
Manager through the technical oversight to water infrastructure and supervision
of water related public work sub projects under NUSAF II project. The engineer
will work closely with the district water department to ensure that projects
designed by WV are technically feasible for implementation including ensuring
that the right inputs are procured and delivered on timely manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Offer
    support during selection of water infrastructure related sub projects and
    drafting of project design documents and budgets.
  • Work
    in liaison with the district water department to ensure all water
    infrastructure sub projects are feasible, i.e., technically sound
  • Carry
    out training of field staff (Field Monitor, PTLs, CMs)and community in the
    area of water infrastructure and other related public work projects
  • Oversee
    all the engineering activities under NUSAF II project such as construction
    of water facilities
  • Carry
    out regular field visit to sub-project sites to check implementation
    progress and conduct on-spot training of field monitors, PTLs, CMs, PMCs
    and project participants.
  • Work
    closely with the field team, other NUSAF II project staff and district
    technical staff, develop work norms and standards for implementation of
    all water infrastructure related sub projects.
  • Work
    in liaison with the field team (field monitor, PTL, CMs) prepare monthly
    and quarterly progress reports which reflect activities accomplished in
    the water infrastructure projects.
  • Attend
    daily devotions in accordance with WVU Human Resource policies
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the World Vision placement should hold a Degree in
    water or civil engineering, or related engineering course from a
    recognized institution.
  • A
    minimum of two years of previous experience in designs and Construction
    work of water related infrastructure under public works, preferably in an
    NGO.
  • Working
    knowledge, and experience in Rock Catchment, Sand Dam, Earth Dams, Charco
    Dams, Gravity Flow Scheme, Valley Dams and Spring Water protection is a
    must.
  • Computer
    literacy skills are mandatory.
  • Working
    knowledge of AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, and GPS mapping software is an added
    advantage.
  • Excellent
    command of oral and written English is a must, local language skills are
    an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior
    experience working in Karamoja or similar environment is preferred.
  • Motorcycle
    riding skills is an asset
