Job Summary: The Associate
Director – Vice President will be responsible for working collaboratively with
others to develop strong client relationships and support delivery of BIA Audit
Plan. Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Vision: To assist Barclays in becoming the
Go To Bank, by facilitating the improvement of the Governance and Control
Environment. We:

BIA Overview:  BIA aims to provide independent, reliable,
valued, insightful and timely assurance to the Board and Executive Management
over the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control over current
and evolving risks, in the context of the current and expected business environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
1. Colleague:
  • Own
    and drive personal learning to support achievement of career aspirations.
  • Actively
    engage and motivate others to develop their skills/knowledge/experience to
    contribute to the success of BIA.
  • Celebrate
    the success of self and others and take pride in achievements.
  • Offer
    constructive feedback and evaluation to team members for audit assignments
    and support Directors in their assessment of Assistant Vice Presidents
    (AVPs)
  • Act
    as mentor and coach to less experienced team members and support others to
    develop. Provide guidance to AVPs during audit assignments.
  • Significantly
    contribute to the attraction of the best people through their role in the
    recruitment process.
  • Create
    an environment to encourage knowledge sharing, asking questions and
    sharing viewpoints with BIA colleagues and peers in the business.
  • Ensure
    the inclusion of all colleagues, regardless of background or
    circumstances.
2. Company:
  • Scope
    audit assignments including preparation of the scoping document.
  • Manage
    audit work to ensure that relevant risks and controls have been identified
    and appropriately assessed.
  • Regularly
    review and direct control evaluation (and perform evaluation when
    appropriate).
  • Review
    and complete documentation of scoping, process understanding, risk &
    control identification, control evaluation and observations in BIA audit
    toolkit.
  • Challenge
    others where appropriate, if you believe self to be correct.
  • Makes
    decisions on a broad range of factors, with Barclays values at heart.
  • Write
    high quality observations and audit reports (with input from the audit
    team).
  • Manage
    audit teams on a day to day basis, working to ensure that audits progress
    as planned, as regards scope, budget and timetable.
  • Technically
    support management in identifying resolutions for control issues
    identified.
  • Continue
    to update awareness of risk issues and changes across relevant business
    units and use this knowledge to amend audit approach where necessary.
  • Provide
    complete, accurate and timely information to clients for BIA reporting.
    This includes both Audit Committee Reporting, GACC reporting and any other
    key senior management reporting.
  • Proactively
    take on additional tasks as requested by the Director/Managing Director.
3. Conduct:
  • Take
    into account reputation of Barclays at all times, through positive
    interactions and following policy and process.
  • Sets
    an example and supports fair and ethical behaviour in all colleagues.
  • Make
    sure colleagues are equipped to be able to protect our reputation at all
    times.
4. Customer/Client:
  • Lead
    discussions with clients regarding audit observations, consulting with the
    Director where necessary.
  • Build
    trusting and open relationships with clients on each audit and develop
    ongoing relationships with key clients in aligned business area.
  • In
    charge of developing a wide network of contacts across BIA and the
    business to identify and work towards common goals.
  • Know
    our clients/customers and understand how team’s work benefits them.
5. Citizenship:
  • Support
    citizenship agenda across BIA to contribute positively to the communities
    we operate in.
  • Apply
    citizenship lens when making business critical decisions.
6. Risk and Control Objective:
Ensure that all activities and
duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements,
Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and
Standards.
7. Self-development – 10%
  • Pursue
    self-development to increase personal effectiveness, acknowledging
    strengths and areas for development.
  • Share
    best practice with, and provide feedback to, the other members of
    collections Team, on all business and people related issues, climate and
    local development and initiatives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The
    applicants should have significant experience in risk based auditing or
    risk/control activities
  • Relevant
    professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA, CIA, CISA, for audit roles;
    technical qualification for specialist risk team roles; and graduate
    degree for all)
  • Detailed
    knowledge and understanding of relevant regulatory environment
  • Prior
    exposure and experience of managing audits/driving initiatives in a
    relevant field
  • Excellent
    track record of high performance in previous roles to include senior
    client management
  • Financial
    services industry knowledge is preferred
  • Working
    knowledge about new and emerging financial products and services.
  • Prior
    experience of leading others during audit assignments is desired
