About
US:
The Uganda
Investment Authority is a semi-autonomous investment promotion facilitation
organization in Uganda owned by the Government of Uganda. It is setting up a
One Stop Centre (OSC) to bring together Government Ministries, Departments and
Agencies (MDAs) which interface with investors in one way or another. The aim
of this initiative is to provide convenient and efficient service to investors
in a single location. The following MDAs have liaison desks at the UIA OSC
Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA),
Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC), National Environment
Management Authority (NEMA) and Ministry of Land, Housing & Urban
Development (MLHUD).
Job
Summary:
The Environment Officer will support the Director Investment by
managing all environment matters at the One Stop Centre.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Screen development proposals submitted through the
One Stop Centre and guide UIA and the investors on the level of assessment
required;
·        
Conduct preliminary review of EIA projects
submitted in line with the provisions stated under the EIA Regulations, 1998
and EIA Guidelines;
·        
Works closely with the National Environment
Management Authority (NEMA) on the transmission of EIA documents to relevant
lead agencies, and subsequent review and approval of EIA projects;
·        
Ensure that in liaison with NEMA, Investors
already issued with EIA certificates, comply with the conditions of approval
stated therein, as well as with the provisions stated in the various
environmental Laws and Standard, and also;
·        
Ensure that Investors conduct annual environment
audits in line with the provisions of the National Environment (Audit
Management) Regulations, 2006
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor of
Science degree in Environmental Management, Physical and Natural Science, Environment
Engineering and B. Science in Forestry from a recognized University. Possession
of a postgraduate degree in any of the above will be an added advantage.
·        
Additional training in Environment Impact Assessment
(EIA) is a must.
·        
A minimum of three years’ experience in
environment and natural resource management field or a related field.
