Services Specialist
Food Assistance Program entitled “Resiliency through Wealth, Agriculture,
and Nutrition in Karamoja (RWANU)”. The RWANU Program aims to reduce food
insecurity among vulnerable rural populations in selected sub-counties of
Amudat, Moroto, Napak and Nakapiripirit. The Program’s strategic objectives are
(1) improved availability and access to food and (2) reduced malnutrition in
pregnant and lactating mothers and children under five. The RWANU Program takes
a preventive approach to reducing malnutrition, focusing on the first 1,000
days of life when conditional food rations will have the highest impact. RWANU
promotes diversified livelihoods strategies including linkages to market
opportunities to ensure long-term food security and resilience to food
insecurity shocks.
Responsibilities:
- Organize selected groups into associations
(specifically Mother Care Groups and Women Livestock Groups) - Identify group training needs and, train
groups on savings and credit management, business planning and business
creation. - Assist women groups to save as a group,
develop business plans and, start viable Businesses (Income Generating
Activities) - Intuitively review and monitor the project
performance of savings groups. - Support groups access input and output
Markets - Coordinate with other Business Team staff
members on training activities. - Compile and submit activity reports on a
monthly and quarterly basis. - Perform any other duties as may be
assigned from time to time.
Experience:
- The applicant should possess a related
university degree. - The successful candidate should have
practical experience in developing, managing and monitoring saving and
credit activities at community level - Past exposure and experience in practical
field-based activity implementation in remote environments, and in the
context of high levels of poverty (experience in smallholder agriculture
and agro-pastoral setting is a plus) - Good working knowledge and experience in business development, Agri-business
and entrepreneurial/ vocational skills training; - Past exposure and experience in conducting
training and workshops, and needs - Experience with monitoring and evaluation.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
and knowledge of NgaKarimojong language is a requirement - Possess the ability to work independently
with minimum supervision - Excellent analytical and report writing
skills - Computer literate especially in Microsoft
Office software - Fluent written and spoken English language
skills are a must - Computer literacy with a good command of
word processing and spreadsheets - Good communication and reporting skills
- Demonstrable ability to work with a team
Ability to work with minimum supervision - Excellent interpersonal skills
