lawyers, undertake research in topical legal issues, contribute to legal
reform, produce legal publications, teaching materials, law reports and also
provide community legal services. Some of It’s key functions include;
- To provide legal training to lawyers and
non lawyers - To research into topical legal issues and
recommend proposals for law reform - To provide law reports and legal
publications - To provide community legal services
Subject will be responsible for generating, reviewing and monitoring the
implementation of the departmental policies and activities, plan and generate
teaching material, plan and deliver lectures to students as well as to set
examinations and assess to students’ performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, review and update teaching
materials and teach students in line with course unit objectives. - Develop Time Tables for teaching and
examinations. - Regular attendance and conducting
lectures/moots firm discussions in the subject(s). - Set, moderate, invigilate and mark
examinations and progressive assessment assignments for the subjects’
taught and present results to Board of Examiners. - Carry out research and publish findings in
line with national, international and LDC’s publication guidelines. - Oversee the research projects of students
allocated in line with Centre’s research guidelines. - Process all staff complaints and counsel
students. - Assess legal knowledge/ skills and develop
the professional capacity of Bar Course students in line with the set
standards and the Syllabus. - Organize diploma courses, short courses
and continuing legal education programmes. - The jobholder must be Available for
consultation by students.
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold an
LLB (Hons) from a recognised university. Possession of an LLM from a
recognised university is an added advantage. - Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice
from the Law Development Centre. - The candidate must be an enrolled member
of the Uganda Bar with a valid practicing certificate. - A minimum of eight years’ experience in
private or public legal practice, or teaching law in a relevant
Institution of Higher Learning.

contacts of three (3) referees, two professional and one character referee.
