Job Summary: The Project Manager will offer strategic leadership and support to planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and sustainability of all Projects at ActionAid Uganda in line with its Country strategy Paper IV.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Offer inspirational leadership to projects and other staff of ActionAid to enable them be creative, innovative in delivering programme commitments.
  • Take lead in ensuring greater integration of projects into programming of ActionAid as part of an effort to develop an integrated and systematic model of programming.
  • Offer technical and other forms of support to relevant staff in the planning, implementation, and reporting on projects in accordance with the donor guidelines, procedures and AAU CSPIV.
  • Technically support AAU staff and partners to prepare quality and timely quarterly / annual projects work plans, budgets and progress reports according to donor guidelines.
  • Keenly track and ensure timely and quality reporting of projects milestones and performance according to schedules agreed on with the respective Donors and supporters.
  • Effectively manage and oversee project scope by ensuring any changes of scope and interventions are documented and approved by AAU designated staff and respective Donors.
  • Significantly contribute as Projects Manager to the overall deepening and expansion of AA Uganda’s programming through spaces such as the Programme Thinking Team, Project Management committee and Program management Team.
  • Support in the identification of funding gaps within the projects, advice and support the development of fundraising plans and mobilize resources in line with LRP with the CSP IV aspirations.
  • Manage, motivate coach and build the capacity of project teams to proactively plan, manage, monitor and report on the projects performance in line with the Donor guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Make sure that there is effective functioning of various committees put in place to enhance coordination and performance of projects in line with the donor guidelines and CSP IV aspirations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a bachelor’s degree in Development studies, Human Rights, Social Sciences Project Planning and Management or its equivalent.
  • Possession of a Master’s Degree in any of the fields above will be added advantage.
  • A minimum of five years’ managerial experience in managing programs or project/s.
  • At least three years prior experience in implementing donor projects.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of key and standard donor requirements.
  • Proven ability in meeting strict donor reporting deadlines involving working with national and grassroot based staff partners
  • Excellent report writing, team and project management experiences and skills
  • Excellent analytical, innovative, strategic thinking, advocacy and financial management skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, MS Word, MS Power point, MS Outlook, MIS management/use and MS Project
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills
  • Past exposure and experience in working within matrix management and reporting environment.
