About UNRA:
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of
Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became
operational on 1st July 2008. The
mandate of UNRA is to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise
Government on general roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport
concerns, among others.

About IDB Project:
Government of the Republic of Uganda has received funds from the
Islamic Development Bank (IDB) towards the upgrading of Tirinyi – Pallisa –
Kumi and Pallisa – Kamonkoli Road Project. A Project Management Unit (PMU) is
to be established to ensure that the Project is implemented according to the
agreed terms and conditions.

Job Summary: The Senior
Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of
all aspects of the financial management systems for the project accounts.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

- Guarantees that all funds allocated to the
project, and any other income, are properly recorded and accounted for; - Performs all transactions relating to cash
and bank, monthly cash book and ledger reconciliation statements; - Intuitively checks the coding of
contractor and consultant payment certificates and makes payment within
the contractual timeframe; - Monitors input data to the several cost
centres as respects their completeness, accuracy, timeliness and resolves
shortcomings with the responsible staff; - Compiles and submits monthly accounting
information as required; - Offers timely and accurate accounting
information to the executing and funding agencies as required; - Maintains the fixed assets register for
the project assets and accounts for all acquisitions and disposals; - Ensures that current assets of the project
are properly stored and accounted for; - Arranges prompt payment of utility and
other invoices relating to the day to day running of the project offices; - Significantly contributes to the project’s
quarterly report and prepares such other reports as may be required by the
supervisor(s), - Performs such other related duties as may
be assigned by the supervisor(s) from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant must possess an Honours
Degree in Economics, Finance, Banking or Business Administration obtained
from a recognized institution of higher learning - The candidate must also be a fully
registered member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of
Uganda (ICPU) - A minimum of five (05) years’ working
experience in accounting obtained from the private and / or public sector.
