About TASO:
The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Uganda , an
organisation contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring
hope and improving the quality of Life of persons, families and communities
affected by HIV infection and disease, requires the services of dedicated,
competent, innovative and results oriented persons for employment on a contract
basis for the positions above;
Job Summary: The incumbents will offer provide nursing care and health education
to TASO clients including communities
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Actively participate in
    the drawing and implementation of Centre medical work plans and budget.
  • Triage all clients coming
    to the clinic
  • Offer information to
    clients, aimed at reducing their vulnerability to diseases and infections
    through health education.
  • Conduct nursing
    techniques and procedures as requested and prescribed by the doctors and
    clinicians
  • Actively monitor patient
    flow and, in the case of patient overflow, assists in preparation of
    examination rooms, preparation of patients for exam, and taking of vital
    signs of patients
  • Prescribe drugs when
    necessary
  • Offer technical support
    in the dispensing of drugs and other medical items according to prescription
    and maintain records
  • Participate in HIV/AIDS
    awareness and sensitizations in the communities
  • Conduct training of
    health workers from communities and other institutions
  • Maintain client records
    at the clinic
  • Participate in general
    and medical staff meetings as required.
  • Perform all duties and
    services in full compliance with set national and international standards
    and procedures

Areas:
  • Ensure nursing care that
    meets national, international and TASO standards received by all TASO
    clients
  • Clients attended to in a
    timely manner
  • Client knowledge on
    HIV/AIDS care improved
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold
    a good diploma in Comprehensive Nursing / Nursing Training in Counselling
    and Training in HIV/AIDS care and support
  • At least two years’
    experience in clinical nursing services
  • High degree of Integrity,
    Empathy, Patience, Confidentiality
  • Possess the ability to
    work under mental and physical stress
