Job Summary: The
Programme Officer — Governance will take lead in governance issues, plan, and
manage development interventions while working with Partners and other development
actors in accordance with the Governance Unit Plan and Country Strategic Paper.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Provide support on contextual analysis, identification of information
needs and support the process of research and policy analysis to inform
the thematic policy - Plan, implement, and monitor program activities, prepare and submit
periodic reports that address community priority, Just and Democratic
Governance issues in line with the Unit Plan and program development in
line with Country Strategy Paper. - Offer support in the identification, appraising and selection of
strategic partners and nurture such partnership in line with thematic
strategy, MU principles and guidelines on partnerships - Participate in the design of capacity plans for staff and partners
implementing Just and Democratic Governance Activities in line with the
Country Strategic Paper. - Develop and Maintain Linkages and provide technical support to local
and national organisations, movements, networks and coalitions on Just and
democratic governance initiatives in line with Country Strategy Paper. - Engage in local, national and international policy advocacy and
campaigns work in line with Country Strategy Paper - Develop a database of Just and democratic Governance Programme,
monitor and document the performance and learning’s from the programme. - Support in the identification and storage of thematic and programme
knowledge needs for the program and its partners, in line with MU
Knowledge Management strategy.
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences,
humanities, Laws or any other related field from a recognized institution - A certificate in project planning and management is an added
advantage. - At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience from a recognized
institution, preferably an NGO - Good understanding and knowledge of; HRBA programming, Monitoring
and Evaluation, Governance accountability and community empowerment,
Fundraising and resource mobilization - Demonstrated passion to work for human dignity,
- Exhibit commitment to Actionaid values
- Planning and Budgeting skills
- Good communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Very vibrant and Spirit Activism
- Bold, Confident, openness and willingness to learn,
- Patient and tolerant person,
- Aware of the concept of citizenship,
- Demonstrated awareness of the Uganda context on Governance and
Democratic issues - Accountable and trustworthy
- Self-driven and willing to work extra hours
