About SDFG:
SDFG was launched in Sudan in
April 2010 as an umbrella group to serve as a think tank and venue for
indigenous research, analysis, advocacy, outreach and campaigning for a
peaceful democratic transition in Sudan. SDFG founders come from different
geographic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and are among the most prominent
figures in the civil society movement in Sudan. The organisation’s areas of
focus include the defence and promotion of human rights, peace building,
conflict transformation and empowering women, youth and other vulnerable groups
for greater engagement in the public debate. The organisation thus provides an
umbrella for collaborative professional work among independent civil society
groups and opinion leaders from across the Sudan and in the Diaspora.
Job Summary: The SDFG
Programme Manager will be focusing on ensuring the implementation of
activities, managing project staff, building relationships with key actors, and
providing oversight for financial and donor reporting. The Programme Manager
will also contribute to the strategic direction of SDFG.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
  • Lead
    in project management, including project implementation, financial
    management and reporting, donor reporting, and monitoring and evaluation,
    reporting to the Executive Director
  • Oversee
    monitoring and evaluating of SDFG operational projects in all areas of
    interventions
  • Manage
    the Project Coordinators and other staff
  • Contribute
    to the development of the overall strategy for the entire project and organization
  • Lead
    on SDFG’s organisational development strategy, including financial and
    human resources systems
  • Lead
    on identifying and developing new fundraising opportunities and donor
    relationships
  • Carry
    out advocacy activities regionally and internationally as necessary
  • Carry
    out research as required as part of project implementation process as
    necessary
Qualification
Skills and Experience:
  • At
    least 5 years’ experience in a managerial position in an international or
    regional Non Governmental Organization
  • A
    Masters Degree in peacebuilding, governance, human rights or related
    issues, or comparable professional experience
  • Demonstrated
    experience in project management, including financial management,
    monitoring and evaluation, and donor reporting
  • Strong
    leadership skills and experience of managing diverse and multi-cultural
    teams
  • Demonstrated
    experience of organisational development and capacity building
  • Willingness
    and ability to travel in the region
  • Experience
    of working in security-sensitive environments
  • Understanding
    of conflict-sensitive approaches theory and tools
  • Experience
    of public awareness-raising and media-related activities
  • Knowledge
    of the Horn of Africa, including Sudan and South Sudan
  • Arabic
    language skills
Terms and conditions:
Annual salary range: Competitive
with Uganda-based international NGOs
