Red Cross Society (URCS) the leading National Humanitarian Organization in
Uganda and a member of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is
seeking to recruit dynamic, self-motivated individuals to fill the enlisted
positions; following the support received from the Joint Population Program –
financed by DFID through the World Health Organization (WHO) to Uganda Blood
Transfusion Services (UBTS); to establish three new blood collection teams in
Lira, Arua and Moroto Districts. URCS has therefore, been entrusted by UBTS to
contract and jointly implement activities for this program. URCS is an equal

Job Summary: The Laboratory
Technologist will be responsible for proper collection, handling and
transportation of blood to the laboratory; for analysis, interpretation of
results and submission of quality reports.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
  • Manages and accounts
    for all allocated resources.
  • Participates in proper
    collection, handling and transportation of blood to the laboratory.
  • Carries out laboratory
    analysis, interprets results and submits timely and quality reports.
  • Requisitions for
    equipment and other laboratory supplies using the standard procurement
    procedures.
  • Ensures that equipment
    is functional and well maintained, including but not limited to cleaning.
  • Ensures adherence to
    safety measures against hazards.
  • Participates in quality
    assurance measures for laboratories.
  • Participates in research
    activities.
  • Adheres to Professional
    Code of Conduct and Ethics.
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
  • The candidate must have a National Diploma in
    Medical Laboratory Techniques or its equivalent from a recognized
    Institution;
  • The candidate must be registered with the
    Allied Health Professionals Council;
  • Excellent communication skills as well as a
    team player.
  • Knowledge of local language is an added
    advantage.
