3 NGO Social Work Jobs – Community Development Facilitator at Plan International

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate child
    centred community development;
  • Work with children,
    their families and communities in identifying and managing their own
    development processes and building meaningful relationships among the
    multiple stakeholders in the community.
  • Facilitate capacity
    building for children, families and communities and collaboratively work
    with partners to ensure effective service delivery and advocate for the
    rights and general wellbeing of children.
  • Support communities to
    mobilize local resources and also provide any relevant information
    required by the resource mobilisation unit for purposes of
    proposal/business development to support any community development
    initiatives. 
  • Mainstream cross
    cutting development issues like gender, environment and HIV/AIDs in
    development processes
  • Facilitate the
    development of children’s organizations, groups and programs
  • Facilitate creation of
    linkages and relations between communities and key partners, and local
    government to foster integration of interventions for greater synergy in
    his/her community.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The candidate should
    hold a University Degree in Social Work or Development Studies, with
    additional concentration in one of the following areas – Agriculture, or
    Human Rights, Public Health and Education with knowledge and skills in
    community-based development with a bias in child programming.
  • Demonstrate Knowledge
    of basic laws and policies related to children -if NCRC. Children’s Act,
    LG decentralization policy
  • Flexibility and
    willingness to listen and learn from communities and children
  • Experience and
    knowledge of PRA
  • Ability to work in
    teams, negotiation and facilitation skills
  • A good knowledge and skills
    in participatory advocacy and lobbying
  • Willingness to engage
    in full immersion and live as close as possible to the community
  • Experience and
    knowledge of project planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience In
    partnership building, networking and collaboration.
  • Good understanding of
    programme concepts from a rights-based approach
  • Computer literacy,
    with good communication skills
  • Good resources
    mobilization skills and ability to write good concept papers
  • Knowledge of
    Ateso/Jophadola language is added advantage – (for Tororo) 
  • Knowledge of Luo –
    (for Lira)
  • Ability and
    willingness to ride a motorcycle will be a must
