Job Summary: The Tellers will provide a counter service, local currency and basic international to Bank customers and other members of the public and administration support within the outlet

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1.      Cash and Related Transactions  -  70%
  • Cashing of cheques, travellers cheques, and withdrawals.
  • Process both cash and cheque deposits/credits
  • Purchase and sale of foreign currencies
  • Before processing each transaction verify that all the required information for the transaction is accurate and complete on accordance with the banks procedures. Refer any concerns to the team leader or branch operations manager for follow up and decision making whether proceed.
  • Capture all transactions on the banks system and ensure that all transactions are properly authorised before processing.
  • Balance cash in own till and assist other tellers for balancing in case of need
  • Prepare  vouchers for onward processing at the central processing unit or back-office
  • Limited cross-selling of bank products and services
  • Provide referral services to the customers on bank products
  • Carefully count cash received and paid to ensure that errors are avoided. Barclays has zero tolerance  policy for teller errors, which may include formal disciplinary procedures
  • Assist customers to correctly complete transaction documentation such as deposits or withdrawals slips to ensure accuracy and completeness.
2.     Customer service  - 25%
  • Answer general customer enquiries at cash counter
  • Undertake cashier & enquiries duties as required in order to provide excellent customer service at the counter as a backup only
  • On occasion, own and manage customer queries and complaints by taking ownership and resolving in a timely manner
  • May record details of cash and cheques paid in other Bank credits and charge counter fee
  • Provide administration support within the outlet
  • May be required to assist in the training of new cashiers
3.     Rigour  - 5%
  • Resolve own till  at the beginning and end of day
  • Throughout the day advise cash team leader when teller limits are exceeded.
  • Conduct snap checks as assigned
  • Call over work assigned 
  • Open and close till as per bank procedures
  • You may be required to assume role of custodian 
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant should be a graduate.
  • At least two years as a Cashier 
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Leadership skills
  • Detailed knowledge of the banks processes and rigour requirements related to cash
  • Cash handling knowledge
  • Systems knowledge
  • Cash management and Banks knowledge
  • Demonstrated record in dealing with physical cash
