Us:
Our client Kalangala
infrastructure is a private/public partnership company which is working to
develop environmentally sensitive infrastructure services to serve island
residents in Uganda with improved access to water, safer transportation and
more reliable electricity.
Key
Duties & Responsibilities:
1.     
Formulating
and implementation of business strategies and plans:
  • Formulation
    of annual budgets and targets.
  • Lead
    and manage the budgeting process.
  • Review
    and investigation of budgetary variances and setting recovery plans.
  • Overall
    responsibility for achievement of Earnings after Tax (EAT).
  • Capital
    Expenditure – evaluation and preparation of submissions.
2.    
Reporting:
  • Ultimate
    responsibility for the preparation and presentation of annual financial
    reports in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards –
    IFRS.
  • Preparation
    and presentation of monthly written business and financial commentaries
    for the Board.
  • Preparation
    and presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual Debt (Note Issuance
    Deed) Reports.
  • Responsible
    for statutory and regulatory reporting.
3.    
Overall
control of Finance Function:
  • Lead
    and develop the finance team.
  • Control
    of all financial transactions, accountancy matters and tax compliance.
  • Developing
    Financial Models.
  • Performing
    risk management and monitoring reviews including insurance.
4.    
Liaison
with Lenders:
  • Responsible
    for compliance with financial Note Issuance Deed (NID) covenants.
  • Updating
    lenders on key developments
5.    
Corporate
Finance and Treasury Management:
  • Managing
    capital requirements – specifically debt draw down.
  • Plan
    and manage long term debt obligations.
  • Hedging
    foreign currency exposure.
  • Investment
    of excess cash.
  • Formulating
    and negotiating payment arrangements for high value long term contracts
    (EPC) with a view to minimising associated risks and costs.
  • Overall
    cash management on an on-going basis.
  • Manage
    relationship with the local and offshore banks.
     
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
  • The
    Finance Manager should be a Qualified Accountant – CIMA, MBA (Finance) and
    BSc (Econ). Level 2 candidate on the CFA program
  • A
    minimum of at least ten (10) years in senior positions, 5 of which heading
    Finance Functions/Departments
  • Communication
    Skills:

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team
    work:
    Good
    interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and able to support and motivate
    others. Comfortable working virtually with team members spread across
    different time zones. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Technology
    Skills: Advanced Spreadsheet, PowerPoint, MS Word, and computerised
    accounting (ERP) skills. Kin interest in deploying Information and
    communication technology
  • Planning
    and Organizing:

    Strong planning and organisational skills. Comfortable multitasking and
    handling cross-function tasks.
  • Other
    personal attributes:

    A high level of integrity and reliability. Able to work and deliver under
    pressure, and strong analytical and numeric skill.
