Job Summary: The ICT Assistant key role will be to provide support in maintaining an effective, efficient and responsive ICT system in order to provide the highest levels of support to the Country office. This will include Software and hardware configurations, server administration, LAN set-ups, and Microsoft outlook setups. The incumbent should generally be able to administer a Windows domain (active directory) network with Microsoft Exchange.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1.       Maintain a reliable computer and network system to ensure stable email/internet and equipment use.
  • Maintain the local area networks and the servers by ensuring the reliability of the local e-mail and Internet systems at CUHQ and sub-offices
  • Manage networks according to industry minimum standards
  • Monitoring and ensuring that up to date virus protection software is installed on all machines and that other CARE standard software such as Microsoft Office Suite is installed and updated regularly.
  • Provide first line software support to all in country staff including troubleshooting software problems.
  • Set up and configure new computers and ensure that they are in working condition for new staff
2.     Carry out routine hardware maintenance both at CUHQ and sub offices
·              In liaison with human resources and hiring managers, set up new users with email addresses and appropriate server access immediately they come on board as per Care policy.
·              Carry out routine review to ensure all computers, printers, scanners, phones – are in working condition at all times
·              Under supervision of the ICT coordinator, provide first level hardware maintenance & upgrades and work with procurement to organise more advance repairs with external service providers
·              Ensure that the physical ICT infrastructure (wireless & cabling) is in place, fully functional and up-to-date; adhering to best practice in terms of neat and safe cabling and easy access from every workstation.
·              Under supervision of the ICT coordinator, manage and maintain network servers, ensuring effective security and constant power supply; especially ensuring that antivirus programs are totally up-to-date
3.     Manage and maintain a content management system using Microsoft share point in line with the ICT plan and institute a reliable Data Management system to ensure safety and easy retrieval of information
  • Design and maintain a well organised up to date information portal  that spans across all departments
  • Ensure regular data backup is done and that key data is safe and easily accessible   and ensure weekly off-site copies are secured while taking appropriate action in case of a system failure
  • Institute measures to safeguard data and ensure it is not accessed by non authorised persons through control of access levels.
4.     Provide Care Staff and Visitors with continuous support to ensure good quality internet and e-mail services
  • Provide technical support to staff involved in website design, development and update and to the extent required, support with managing new media such as Linkedin, You Tube, Face book, etc.
  • Be proactive in identifying mobile users and making sure that they get access to their mailboxes whilst travelling · Manage internet and e-mail access and restrictions to ensure security and ethical use of services
  • Provide training to all in-country staff and induct new staff on Care computer systems
  • Ensure a speedy response to, and resolution of, any connectivity problems with minimal down time.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Relevant degree in Computing and ICT professional qualification like A+ or higher
  • At least 3 years experience working with Cisco routers, Firewalls and VPNs.
  • Experience working with the following software’s; Windows7, Microsoft Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange 2003 servers, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Share-point services 2010
  • Proven ability to transfer knowledge to users and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and decision making skills
  • Proven capacity for analysing and getting to the root causes of ICT problems and suggesting cost effective solutions
  • Experience in managing data bases a must (Microsoft SQL server)
  • Experience in working in a complex ICT set-up with clientserver technologies.
