Job Summary: The Job holder will provide
sound financial management support and oversee the day-to-day operations of the
finance department of Uganda Reinsurance Company Ltd.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Develop, produce and present financial
    reporting statements for the Company, for both internal and external
    requirements;
  • Develop and implement structures, business
    & accounting policies, practices and procedures to meet and exceed
    International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other
    legal/statutory and regulatory requirements;
  • Design, document, implement and monitor
    the appropriate internal controls to deliver sound financial management;
  • Managing reinsurance receivables and
    payables;
  • Collaborating with appropriate internal
    and external stakeholders to ensure the proper design and execution of
    reinsurance structures from accounting and financial reporting
    perspectives.
  • Partner with the Principal Officer and
    other members of the Management team on all operational and strategic
    issues as they arise and provide strategic recommendations based on financial
    analysis and projections;
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Asset
    Register;
  • Provide to Management key insights into
    the condition of business, cash flow positions and investment portfolios;
  • Manage costs within approved budget;
  • Lead the annual budgeting and planning
    process in conjunction with the Principal Officer and the rest of the
    Management team;
  • Co-ordinate and lead the annual audit
    process: liaise with external auditors and other stakeholders to ensure
    timely execution and delivery;
  • Perform people management functions;
  • Ensure compliance to policies, legislation
    and regulations; and,
  • Perform any other related official duties
    as may be assigned by the Principal Officer.


Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:


  • University degree in Finance and /or
    Accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years senior management
    financial experience.
  • Professional Accounting qualification
    prerequisite (Full CPA and / or ACCA)
  • MBA in Finance and /or accounting is an
    added advantage.
  • Demonstrate experience in financial
    governance
  • Sound understanding of the Insurance
    environment within and outside Uganda
  • Applicants should be in the range of 29-45
    years of age.
