CIAT is seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals to join the team at the Kampala Office. The individuals should be capable of serving a multicultural and multidisciplinary team. The positions will be based at the National Agricultural Research Laboratories- Kawanda.

Job Summary: The Research Assistant- Impact Assessment will Work as a member of the Impact assessment team within PABRA project team. The RA-impact Assessment will participate in the early adoption and impact studies conducted to assess the extent, and determinants of technology adoption and the farm level impacts of technologies among adopters in the target sites where there is significant adoption. The RA-impact Assessment will contribute to the formulation of Research hypotheses to test and explain gender differentials in adoption and impact with a view to enhancing the intra-household distribution of the benefits from PABRA projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support socioeconomic, institutional, and biophysical data collection.
  • Analyse production constraints and opportunities, technology choices, resource use patterns, profitability, and welfare outcomes for target populations.
  • Assess adoption and farm level impacts of improved varieties, management practices; institutional innovations In market research and seed systems.
  • Support situation analysis to identify adoption pathways and develop strategies for up-scaling pro- poor innovations for greater impact on food security.
  • Contribute to dissemination of research results and development of outcomes to stakeholders and publish approved research findings.
 Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics or related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a related position including internships.
  • High level of computer skills, including knowledge of statistical packages.
  • Basic knowledge of econometric methods, basic statistics and software (e.g. Stata, GAMS, etc.) for analysis of survey data.
  • Good understanding of the processes and constraints to technology adoption and agricultural transformation in developing countries.
