Banking Jobs – Manager Risk & Compliance at Uganda Development Bank

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose: The Job holder will coordinate the Risk Management function of the Bank in line with the Risk Management procedures and policy.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Establish and review corporate wide risk management framework in line with the best practice.
·         Develop and review procedures for reporting major risks facing the Bank in line with the Banks Risk Management procedures
·         Regularly visit business units of the Bank and meet with senior executives to promote imbedding risk management into the culture and daily activities of the Bank in line with the best practice. Maintain a cost benefit focus on Enterprise Risk Management in the Bank.
·         Communicate and manage the establishment and ongoing maintenance of Enterprise Risk Management pursuant to the Bank’s risk Management strategy.
·         Communicate with the Risk Committee of the Board regarding the status of Enterprise Risk Management in the Bank in line with Board’s Risk Committee’s mandate.
·         Develop and maintain a risk management capability in all Business units of the Bank in line with the Bank’s Risk management policy.
·         Validate that Enterprise Risk Management is functioning in each business unit of the Bank and that all significant risks are being recognized and effectively managed in a timely manner
·         Work with the Bank’s business unit heads to ensure business plans and budgets include risk identification and management.
·         Work with the various business units of the Bank to identify and review the Bank’s Risk profile and strategy in line with the Risk Management Framework of the Bank.
·         Develop and Implement department departmental work plan & budgets for Risk department in line with the strategic plan & Budget policy of the Bank.
·         Assess and report on the state of the economy on a periodic basis
·         Perform any other functions as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
·         An Honors Degree in any business field
·         A professional qualification such as ACCA/CPA CIMA would be desirable.
·         Relevant post graduate qualification in Risk Management
·         Minimum of 7 years cognate experience.
