About URC:
University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the USAID-funded Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) project. The project supports delivery of quality HIV prevention, treatment, care and laboratory services at selected referral and general hospitals. URC is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions based in Kampala at SUSTAIN offices (unless stated otherwise):
Job Summary: The Job holder will sustain supports five healthcare facilities in Karamoja, including comprehsive HIV prevention (PMTCT and SMMC), care, and treatment at Moroto Regional Referral Hospital (RRH) and Kaabong General Hospital (GH) as well as laboratory services Kotido GH, Abim GH, Tokora HC IV. The coordinator will coordinate program support in the region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Coordinate service provider skills strengthening activities, including both trainings and on-site support, for clinical and laboratory staff.
·         Oversee infrastructure improvements through renovations, and equipment installation and maintenance in coordination with the project Director of Operations and laboratory services improvement team, at all five laboratories.
·         Support hospitals to set-up and maintain operations for laboratory sample transportation hubs between lower level facilities, regional hubs and national reference labs.
·         Coordinate community mobilization for SMMC at regions surrounding Moroto RRH and Kaabong GH.
·         Provide on-site technical assistance for monitoring and evaluation of HIV service delivery, including ensuring timely submission of Ministry of Health and SUSTAIN reports.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         A degree in health-related field, with a relevant post-graduate qualification in Public Health preferred.
·         At least 3 years experience in managing HIV programs in Uganda
·         Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and manage the successful implementation of activities.
·         Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
·         Willingness to travel extensively within the Karamoja Region
