About Save the Children’s Keep it Real Project:
Keep it Real is a youth-centered in and out of schools Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) approach that offers integration of SRHR and HIV/AIDS information in a non-disease focused environment.
Starting from the realities of young people, acknowledging different sexual identities and practices will solicit mutual respect for reproductive choices of young people.
The project seeks to expand information on sexual and reproductive rights challenge the socio-cultural and political contexts which are not conducive for young people, especially girls, to claim their sexual and reproductive rights, nor have they built skills to be able to do so.
The project’s CSE activities are mainly centered around:
  1. Coordination at a variety of administrative levels through CSE working groups, ensuring gender sensitive youth participation;
  2. Expand the use of tested materials with younger and older adolescents, both in and out of school;
  3. Strengthen linkages with health services and in and out-of-school groups Save the Children seeks to fill the following vacant positions and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Persons.
Job Purpose:
  • The job holder will be responsible for coordinating Save the Children in Uganda’s DM&E efforts in the Keep it Real Project as well as the northern region to ensure high quality programming for children.
  • In close collaboration with the national DME Advisor and the Director, he/she will be coordinating the implementation of strategies to ensure monitoring and evaluation of the programs and the timely dissemination of lessons learnt; and will work closely with the Project Specialists to develop a plan to monitor and evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness and performance of all Save the Children programmes in the region.
  • The job-holder is expected to spend 70% of the time on the Child Rights Integrated Program in the region, and give fairly equal technical support to the other programmes in the region the rest of the time. The Specialist may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • A minimum of a bachelors’ Degree in Social Sciences, Social work and Social administration, Development Studies, Education or any relevant field with M&E as a course. Post Graduate training in Project Planning & Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Community Development & Research is of added advantage.
  • At least 4 years in social or operational research, research methods, development and management, M&E, in INGOs. Experience or research in child rights programming, Education, child protection, health, subsistence agriculture, nutrition, income generation, HIV/AIDS, and livelihoods are an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of participatory research methods, qualitative and quantitative analysis and application of computer data management packages and hands on experiences in setting up and managing M&E systems, preferably in NGO setting.
