Job Title: Driver
Reports to:  Administrative and Procurement Manager
Organisation: Water For People
Job Summary: The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe driving services to Water For People staff and visitors while ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver also demonstrates a client – oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, he drives the office vehicle for transporting authorized personnel and delivery/collection of mails, documents and other items for the WFP project offices.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Ensure provision of reliable and safe driving for WFP staff, officials and visitors and safe delivery and collection of mail, documents and any other cargo.
·         Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records as required
·         Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy.
·         Carry out weekly maintenance checks on the vehicle.
·         Comply fully with WFP Uganda procedures on the reporting of accidents involving WFP Uganda vehicles, including reporting any damages, mechanical faults or accidents that may occur.
·         Ensure that the vehicle is parked safely at all times.
·         Ensure availability of all required documents including, Proof of ownership, Valid driving license, vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, emergency phone contacts, WFP Uganda Security SOPs, first aid kit and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
·         Perform any other tasks as requested.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·         O-Level School Certificate; with a Driving Permit for classes B and above,
·         Defensive driving, Basic skills in vehicle fault diagnosis and trouble-shooting,
·         3 years working experience with a Non-“Government Organization or donor agency, and should between 25 – 45 years of age. Good interpersonal relations, Communication skills and Dealing with security matters.
·         H/She should be courteous, patient, and respectful.
