Job Title: Programme Manager
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Salary: 26,000 – 30,000 Pounds Per Annum
Job Summary:
·         War Child UK is recruiting a Programme Manager who will be responsible for field management and assist in the development of War Child UK’s Uganda Program.
·         The Programme Manager is a senior position. The Programme Manager will be line managed by the Uganda Country Director based in Kampala.
·         S/he will provide leadership in all areas of implementation including programme and financial management, security, logistics, HR, partner supervision and capacity building.
·         S/he will assist the Country Director (CD) in expanding in-country programmes in Karamoja and Northern Uganda, by writing concept papers and proposals, providing assessment information and support to CD.
·         Support the CD in the monitoring and evaluation of all projects. The CD will provide direction on all issues related to field programming, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation support.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1.       Grant Management, reporting and Compliance: Lead the organisations work on thematic areas of Protection, Education and Livelihoods and oversee all projects adhere to donor and organisational requirements, programme reporting, and M&E
2.      Operations: Serve as key focal point for all WCUK Uganda Security and Child Protection Policy
3.      Programme Financial Management: Programme planning and development, in line with War Child UK’s strategy; Programme delivery, to agreed financial standards, time frames and budgets.
4.      Communication and Representation: Representing War Child UK in external network meetings, to donors and government officials
5.      Fundraising: Support Country Director with the information necessary to develop proposals and reports to donors, in line with donor schedules. Helping in drafting of concept papers, proposals and budgets.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         University degree (MA preferred) in education, programme management, social work or related technical field
·         A minimum of Six (6) years of progressively responsible programme management experience at the national or international level in managing child rights and child protection programs, monitoring and evaluation.
·         Proven ability in team leadership.
·         Knowledge and experience in child rights programming, using PAR methodologies particularly REFLECT
·         Supervisory and managerial skills, Experience in grant management, Experience in reporting and proposal writing and donor liaison
·         Fluency in English (written & spoken)
·         Experience building capacity of national staff and implementing partner organizations
·         Knowledge and experience Protection (e.g. GBV, Child Rights and Children in Conflict with the Law programming approaches), Education, Livelihoods and Capacity building.
·         No criminal record / CRB checked
