United Nations World Health Organisation (WHO) Jobs – National Professional Officer / Operations Officer

Duration: 12 months subject for extension depending on availability of funds.
Job Purpose:
To provide overall coordination of administrative and support services to the WHO Country Management Support Unit including workplan development, and to ensure the provision of the full range of services covering the GSM end-to-end.
        i.            To oversee a team performing functions on the basis of the end-to-end process designed in the Global Service Management System.
     ii.            To coordinate different areas of activities such as Programme Management, Procurement and Inventories Management, Travel and Meetings Management, Human Resource Management, and Workplan/Award Management.
   iii.            To prepare regular management reports on implementation of WHO Country Office workplans including contribution to the preparation of statutory reports and acts as focal point for internal and external audits.
    iv.            To perform any other functions assigned by the WHO Representative.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Essential: The suitable candidate will preferably have qualifications including a University degree in Management, Public Administration, law, Social Sciences and/or related field or Public Health from a recognized university.
Desirable: Post Graduate Diploma or professional certification in project management or related field.
Experience:
·         Two to five years of professional experience with an emphasis on programme management, budgeting, Human Resource Management, Procurement and/or Travel.
·         Good knowledge of WHO Programme Management and end-to-end business processes as designed in the Global Management System (GSM).
·         Experience in Project Management, ideally in the UN System and/or a public health context;
·         Good knowledge of the GSM System or similar ERP Systems.
·         Experience with staff training in the use of management information systems.

·         Sound knowledge of the organization’s policies, as well as project management principles and their application within WHO.
·         Ability to act independently and exercise sound judgement.
·         High level of organizational and analytical ability, combined with good oral and written communication skills.
·         Proven ability to maintain and establish excellent interpersonal working relations and to work with competing priorities under pressure.
Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken English; working knowledge of French would be added advantage.

Other Skills:
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g Excel, Word, Power Point etc) with an emphasis on Excel or similar workbook application.
