Duties & Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of Chief Air operations, Entebbe, Air Region, the Flight Following Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Ensure that all Radio log communications are recorded and filed accordingly.
  • Prepare departure Data and avail the necessary information to crew members for crew briefing regarding weather, Notam if any and mission clearance.
  • Prepare, update and upload backlogs to the intranet system for financial implications.
  • In case of delayed communication regarding the aircraft, declare an emergency and follow procedure applied to SAR operations.
  • Ensure that all radio communication with all operational UN Aircrafts are active while in flight.
  • Record the ATD,ETDETA, PAX, cargo and the Aircraft GPS  position ,at the stipulated time.
  • To keep an updated: plotting, tracking and flight following tote board.
  • Any other duties as may be directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: Secondary school level, with diploma or certificate from Air Traffic Training centers or military educational institutions.
Work Experience: At least (5) Five years of experience as an Air Traffic Controller and or flight dispatcher or Military equivalent positions.
Other Skills: Basic computer skills. Ability to learn UN-specific computer applications.
Other:
  • Knowledge in aircraft refueling operations is desirable;
  • Valid driving permit is an advantage.
  • To understand and appreciate the prerequisite knowledge for flight following, have a sound knowledge and understanding of the air operations, emergency procedures as well as good radio communication skills
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage
