Senior Program Officer Conservation Planning Job at African Wildlife Foundation

For more than 50 years, the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) has been a key player in African Conservation and sustainable development. AWF is currently seeking a talented professional to support its conservation planning for T4B Program, Uganda.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief of Party T4B, this position will be responsible for planning and execution of conservation science strategies within the Uganda Program. Working with AWF’s program teams, the Senior Program Officer, Conservation Planning will provide programmatic and technical support to the T4B Program. At the operational level, this role will develop, refine and update conservation planning tools, support conservation planning implementation, monitoring and scoping efforts, support development and designing of proposals, document and share lessons learnt and represent AWF at professional forums and ensure regular and continuous refinement of planning and monitoring tools. Monitoring & evaluation of the performance or effectiveness of tourism programming towards conversation or tourism supports conservation. This position will be based in Kampala, Uganda.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate will;
·         Have 5+ Years of Experience MSc in Related field
·         Demonstrate solid Conservation experience in Africa
·         Be capable of facilitating negotiations amongst stakeholders in Natural Resources Management (NRM) initiatives
·         Be a published writer
·         Demonstrate knowledge of ecological and development issues relevant to AWF’s landscape approach
·         Have basic knowledge of funding agencies
·         Have solid Technical Skills, Project Management and Cultural Sensitivity
·         Have solid writing skills
·         Have negotiation expertise
·         Have passion for conservation
·         Team work
·         Be fluent in English
·         French Preferred
