Purpose of the Job: To coordinate and provide professional leadership, technical guidance and direction in formulation and implementation of policies, strategies, plans and programmes.

Qualifications and Work Experience
·         An Honours’ Degree in Education or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
·         A Masters’ Degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology or Social Work from a recognized Institution.
·         10 years work experience, 3 of which must have been at the level of Assistant
·         Commissioner in an organization providing related services, or working as a Head of an Education and Training Institution or Rehabilitation Facility.
·         Post Graduate qualification in Education Management is an added advantage.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
·         Initiate and formulate appropriate policies, plans and guidelines on provision of guidance, counselling and social work in education and training institutions;
·         Monitor and evaluate the implementation of policies, plans and programmes for guidance, counselling and social work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders;
·         Establish strategic and collaboration linkages and mechanisms with relevant Departments and Agencies both National and International to develop and promote guidance, counselling and psychosocial support in education and training institutions;
·         Coordinate issues of HIV/AIDS and other diseases, and other efforts aimed at effective management of gender mainstreaming prevention and control measures and related activities within the education Sector;
·         Initiate and develop strategies and guidelines to prevent and /or mitigate crises in Education and Training Institutions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
·         Coordinate the preparation and submission of work plans and budgets and accountabilities for the staff, resources and equipment of the Department.
·         Any other duties as may be assigned by the relevant authority.
