Five Lands Rights Desk Officers at Uganda Land Alliance

Job Title: Lands Rights Desk Officer (5 positions)
Reports to: Legal Officer
Duty Station: Katakwi, Amuru, Pader, Kotido and Apac
Contract period: Two years renewable
Uganda Land Alliance is a consortium of National and International NGOs and individuals focusing on advocacy on Land and Land Rights promotion and protecting the interests of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups of people and individuals through the promotion of fair laws and policies aimed at protecting their land rights. Uganda Land Alliance intends to recruit a dynamic and self driven person to fill the post of Lands Rights Desk Officers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Offer Legal advice to people on their Land Rights Provide information on women’s Land Rights to the community Carryout community awareness on Land Rights Refer intricate cases to other Legal Aid providers and courts of Laws
  • Pass on information materials on Land Rights/policies/law to clients Systematically maintain proper records of clients visits to the Land Rights Center
  • Write and submit reports on a routine basis, (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annually) Liaise with other relevant institutions and departments of the Gov­ernment that deal with Land matters in order to optimize the protection of Land Rights.
  • Perform any other function as shall be incidental to the above mentioned roles.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, SWASA, Adult and Community Education obtained from a reputable university with a minimum of 2years of hands on experience in the field of ;
  • Human Rights Promotion and Community Development.
  • Knowledge of Ateso, N’gakaramojong or Luo is desirable.
  • A successful candidate should also possess proven knowledge in conflict resolution and transformation, Human Rights and Family Law.
  • Diploma in Law is an added advantage.
