Three Legal Officers needed at Uganda Land Alliance

Job Title: Legal Officers (3 positions)
Reports to: Legal Officer
Duty Station: Katakwi, Amuru, and Apac
Contract period: Two years renewable
Uganda Land Alliance is a consortium of National and International NGOs and individuals focusing on advocacy on Land and Land Rights promotion and protecting the interests of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups of people and individuals through the promotion of fair laws and policies aimed at protecting their land rights. Uganda Land Alliance intends to recruit a dynamic and self driven person to fill the post of Lands Rights Desk Officers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Offer legal support to people on Land Rights Handle Land cases with professionalism and integrity Represent clients in the courts of laws on their Rights to Land.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual Report and thereof.
  • Make proper filing of court cases and ensure their safety from time to time.
  • Promote advocacy on land Rights to the people in the communities Perform any other function as shall be incidental to the above mentioned roles.
  • Spearhead community land titling Coordinate with the district land offices Build regional land alliances.
  • A Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Center, is a practicing Advocate of the High Court.
  • Knowledge of Ateso, N’gakaramojong or Luo 1 is desirable.
  • At least 1 -2 years of working experience in advocacy and j defending of Human Rights activities will be an advantage.
