Project Facilitator – Menstrual Hygiene Management
Background to the Menstrual Hygiene Management
Plan Uganda in partnership with AFRIpads, Plan Australia and Plan Netherlands are implementing a four year project on Menstrual Hygiene Management in Tororo and Lira districts. The project seeks to address the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) needs of Ugandan school girls and women and to develop models for working with Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) to create awareness and increase access to affordable reusable sanitary pads, while at the same time presenting income generation opportunities for women.

Major Responsibilities /Key result areas
The successful candidate will be based in Tororo and will have responsibility for:
·         Leading implementation of the project at district and community level based on the project documents and community consultation in coordination with Programme Unit Management and in line WASH/Health and Micro Finance /VSLA sector guidelines/ standards.
·         Establishing and maintaining appropriate working relationships with government and local NGOs/CBOs such as community Vision, Plan’s partner on the VSLA program.
·         Preparation of project related reports that are timely and of high quality based on the key project indicators and reporting formats as required by the donor and Plan.
·         Support documentation of project processes on development of an Afripads business model, community Based Management systems, good practices, among others for learning.
·         Strengthen the business capacity/ acumen of Village Savings and Loans associations to develop and manage Afripads enterprises as an Income Generating
·         Facilitate stock supply for participating VSLA groups and work closely with the Afripads staff member to mobilise payments from VSLA members, track stock against sales as well as income.
Required Competencies
·         Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Micro finance, Business Administration, Business computing, Marketing, Development Economics or related field.
·         At least 3 years in direct implementation of rural micro finance or micro enterprise development activities, desirably among women groups.
·         Knowledge of Ugandan Micro-finance sector guidelines/ standards on Micro­enterprise and business development for especially rural communities.
·         Demonstrable abilities in planning and coordination
·         Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from diverse cultures, ability to lead and motivate people to work in teams
·         Excellent communication skills, both in written English and in face-to-face presentation including facilitation of children and youth
·         Skills in promoting Micro- enterprises, savings and micro-credit management,
·         Computer skills (MS Office), especially Ms. Excel and social media skills (Twitter, Face book, You tube)
·         Motorcycle riding skills
·         Knowledge of Adhola and Ateso will be an added advantage
