Programme Financial Controller (1 position)
Duty Station:  Head Office
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the programme team to develop proposal budgets, donor reports and manage­ment accounting reports.
  • Provide technical financial inputs in annual plans and budgets development
  • Support the programme development team in drafting proposal budgets ensure compliance with SCiUG and donor requirements while designing budgets and adequate overhead costs coverage.
  • Prepare project/grant financial monitor­ing reports that compare budget to actual and circulate to budget holders for their review and comments. Make any necessary changes in the system that ensures optimal budget utilization
  • Carry out re-charging of overhead costs to grants as per the donor agreements
  • Prepare accurate donor reports on a timely basis. Reconcile donor reports to Agresso balances – income, expenditure and de­ferred income
  • Coordinate grant audits and ensure compliance with the programme handbook and donor requirements.
  • Ensure proper coding of budgets, this will include activity codes, source of fund codes, project codes and accounting codes and any other codes.
  • Provide technical support to field Program staff during field visits on quarterly basis and assess training needs.
Desired Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting or its equivalent from a recognized uni­versity. Possession of a postgraduate qualifi­cation or professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA is an added advantage.
  • At least 4 years relevant working experience, preferably with International NGOs, with thorough understanding of GAAP and major donor standard requirements.
  • Good accounting and financial management skills with knowledge of computer Accounting Packages and good understanding of major donors financial requirements, conditions and Government budgets and tax policies.
  • Knowledge of Agresso accounting system will be an added advantage
  • Self motivated with demonstrated ability to generate financial reports and meet set deadlines and with impeccable integrity.
  • Team player with good interpersonal/communication, documentation, and facilitation skills and the ability to work under minimum  supervision. Computer literary and fluency in English are a MUST.
  • Ability to maintenance of personal profes­sional development and competencies on financial issues.
  • Strategic management and people manage­ment skills – team building and delegation.

Title: Accountant (1 position)
Duty Station:  Gulu
The Accountant will work under the direct su­pervision of the Partnership Manager Finance and Administration. The Job Holder will take responsibility for efficient and careful han­dling of cash, undertake approved payments by both cash and cheques and maintaining the cash book up to date and reconciled. In addi­tion the position holder will take initiatives to ensure that SCiUG funds are used in the best possible way.

Desired Academic Background. Experience & Person Specifications;
  • A minimum of a Degree in Accounts, Fi­nance/Business studies or the equivalent accrued working experience in a related position. Possession of a graduate or par­tial professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, etc is of an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant working expe­rience, preferably with International NGOs.
  • Good accounting and finance management skills with knowledge of computer Account­ing packages and understanding of basic ac­counting concepts.
  • Self motivated, flexible with demonstrated ability to meet set deadlines and high good integrity.
  • Team player with good interpersonal/com­munication, record keeping skills and the ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Computer literary and fluency in English are a MUST.

The Project Coordinator will work under the direct control and supervision of the Partner­ship Manager Education. The job holder will be responsible for providing ongoing capacity sup­port and coordination of the project partners with project planning, implementation, moni­toring & evaluation and reporting.

Desired AcademicBackground. Experience & Person Specifications;
  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in any relevant field or the equivalent accrued working experience in a related positions
  • At least 3 years progressive experience in programme development and management with an INGO. Relevant experience of super­vising community based integrated social development projects and with Internation­al NGOs, particularly those addressing chil­dren’s rights to education and implementing programs through a partnership approach is desirable.
  • Commitment to and understanding of the Save the Children strategy, vision, mission, values and principles; good understanding and commitment to principles of child rights and child protection. Specific familiarity with child rights issues.

The Job Holder will take re­sponsibility for planning, coordinating, facilitat­ing, monitoring and documenting all Save the Children’s internal and external partnership related capacity building and OD processes.

Desired Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications;
  • A minimum of a Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Organisational Stud­ies, Pedagogy or other relevant field.
  • Have at least three (3) years of documented practical work experience with capacity building/OD processes.
  • Demonstrate robust understanding of or­ganisational dynamics and change proc­esses.
  • Have a good grasp of pedagogical principles and teaching methodologies.
  • Possess strong analytical and planning skills;

PROJECT MANAGER - Standard Chartered Bank

PROJECT MANAGER
Job purpose: The job holder is responsible for supporting the business in optimal use of the bank’s property portfolio. Deliver property services in a cost efficient and effective way. Introduce industry best practice to the Country Real Estate Services functions.

Key responsibilities
  • Determine & manage relevant resources to deliver project work load, including alignment across Standard Chartered Bank’s Country Real Estate Services functional work streams.
  • Provide regular country project portfolio reports to Functional Regional Leads, using Standard Chartered Bank standard formats.
  • Manage business expectations prior to project approval to ensure alignment with Bank Real Estate Strategies.
  • Manage successful delivery of projects to a pre-determined brief, budget, programme and Standard Chartered Bank specifications.
  • Enable effective communications between the project team and the client.
  • Co-ordinate effective and efficient participation of all key project stakeholders.
  • Provide mechanisms for monitoring and tracking progress regarding schedule, budget and technical performance.
  • Implement value-engineering processes and ensure alignment with Standard Chartered Bank Group Operating Work Standards & Engineering Standards.
  • Manage an effective change management system to track all changes from agreed brief.
  • Manage all Country Real Estate Services operational activities in line with stakeholder requirements
  • Support the Business in optimal use of the Banks property portfolio (business alignment)
  • Deliver property services in a cost efficient and effective way
  • Introduce industry best practice to the country CRES functions
  • Act as first point of escalation for unmitigated risks
  • Respond quickly to requests from businesses and support functions.
  • To support the business through Managing Facility Management issues in area of under responsibility
  • Monitor the performance of contracts and or in house staff
  • Over sees planned maintenance and minor building and repair works Manage outsourced property management activities which falls under Country Real Estate Services Roles
  • Review real estate’s tax, recharges, Notional Rent, service charges, Rent escalations, reconciliations and termination provisions To implement the local strategy on property Management, space planning and Movements.

Qualifications
  • Have attained an undergraduate degree in a construction related subject.
  • Have worked for a Real Estate Service Provider, Real estate Consultant (Architect, M&E etc) and/or Contractor and/or have been site based with 5-10 years experience.
