Duty Station: Kampala
Job Purpose: Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Assistant and the overall supervision of the Logistics Officer – Strategic Fleet, the incumbent will be responsible for servicing WFP fleet and will be required to undertake the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, servicing, inspections and repair of WFP vehicles, including motorcycles, generators and related equipment;
  • Assist in checking vehicles or generators for mechanical fitness and in performing major repairs; Use computerised shop equipment;
  • Recover and maintain broken down vehicles/generator using proper techniques to minimise the risk of additional damage and accident;
  • Report on works carried out, including the consumption of spare parts, lubricants, and other items used in the repair of vehicles/generators including time starting and completion of work; Report any workmanship failure that occurred during repairs;
  • Perform welding and panel beating activities; Assist in installing and maintaining sophisticated equipment on WFP vehicles such as VHS, radios, satellite tracking systems, etc;
  • Keep in a good order all repair tools and equipment; Perform other related duties as required
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Diploma/Secondary school education, supplemented by vocational training programme in automotives service technology or relevant mechanical/technical trainings gained from a recognized institution;
  • At least two (2) years experience in commercial and light vehicle repair that includes mechanical, electronics or panel beating gained from a reputable organization; Valid and clean driver’s license for commercial and light vehicles is a requirement;
  • Good reading, mathematics, and computer skills to use and study technical manuals;
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how vehicles work and how various parts of the vehicle interact with each other; Knowledge of driving rules and regulations; Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, radio, email, internet and other applications; Good knowledge and skills in using MS Office applications; Excellent command of English is vital;

Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor - Management Sciences for Health (MSH)


Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is an international non-profit, public health organisation with headquarters in USA, whose purpose is to strengthen health programs worldwide. MSH Uganda is currently running a number of USAID and other donor funded projects, both in Kampala and other parts of the country including SURE.
SURE (Securing Ugandans’ Right to Essential Medicines) will ensure that the population of Uganda has access to adequate quantities of good quality essential medicines and health supplies (EMHS) by strengthening the national essential medicines and health commodities supply system.
MSH now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following position in the SURE program:

Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor  located at the Central Public Health Laboratories (CPHL) Ministry of Health (MoH), Kampala.

Overall Responsibility:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor is a secondment from the SURE program to the CPHL reporting to the Logistics Coordinator – SURE and Technical Head of CPHL.
Provides technical guidance to streamline the lab logistics information system, including developing standard report formats, strengthening performance assessment, and ensuring that they are aligned with other MoH supply chain interventions Provides technical leadership in development of key M&E documents and materials including strategic plans, M&E plans, SOPs, and ensuring that they are monitored and regularly updated
Coordinates CPHL and sister programs in the Ministry of Health, development partners, implementing partners and Private Not for Profit( PNFP) sector stakeholders in routine M&E activities affecting decision making at the ministry, including development of indicators, impact assessment protocols, following up M&E plans
Guides the design of assessments, data collection tools, collection of data from the field, data management activities, preparation of reports, and dissemination of findings
Supports CPHL management to identify capacity building needs in monitoring and evaluation of laboratory services interventions among CPHL staff Monitors the performance of the laboratory commodities credit line and other funding available for lab commodities supply management, including tracking how the budget is spent, commodities procured, and allocation of resources across different levels of care.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in one of the disciplines of Laboratory Science, Field Epidemiology & Laboratory Training, Public Health, Demography, Statistics or related field, or 5 years of equivalent experience in monitoring and evaluation in the health sector,
  • Experience in evaluation, design, development of indicators and data analysis with proven record in monitoring and evaluation,
  • Experience in development of Performance Monitoring Plans,
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Ministry of Health M&E procedures and practices and logistic and supply chain management indicators, particularly in laboratory services delivery,
  • Familiarity with supply chain concepts and laboratory supplies/logistic indicators,
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications and statistical packages such as Microsoft Project, SPSS, Epi Info,
  • Capacity building/training experience is a plus,
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced teamwork environment to meet required deadlines,
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is build the brand name for the new products under the DFID-funded project, while continuing to strengthen the existing brands, and manage the profitability, sales and market share of the UHMG product brands.
The job holder works closely with the Communications team, and the Sales and Distribution team to ensure that all brand strategies and planned field activity for the brands are implemented as per plan in order to achieve the set targets of profitability sales and market share.
The Brand Officer leads the development of a brand including identification of the product, developing the marketing as well as launch implementation plan. To implement the activities indicated in the plan, the Brand Officer works with team members from across UHMG’s commercial and programs divisions. This team ensures that all activities required for developing and maintaining the brands’ market position, including achievement of sales, distribution, profitability and market share targets are completed as per plan.
This position requires a self-driven person with strong marketing, communication, leadership and advocacy skills, and should have the capacity to work with minimum supervision, while upholding the Core Values of UHMG.

Essential Job Functions:
  • The Brand Officer will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:-
  • Contribute towards the development of brand strategies for existing and new UHMG brands.
  • Achieve the brand targets including profitability, sales, targets, brand market share (if applicable), awareness and usage, and distribution/ availability.
  • Prepare the brand marketing plan and associated budgets, including: o Communication objectives, positioning strategy and messages
  • Distribution objectives and strategy
  • Annual sales targets, broken down in to monthly, quarterly, and regional targets o Detailed promotion plans
  • Develop a detailed operating/implementation plan for each brand based on the brand marketing plan and established targets.
  • Communicate the specific tasks and outputs from the operating plan to relevant team members; manage and monitor progress toward completion of all tasks and achievement of major activities.
  • Communicate details of and changes to the brand marketing strategy to the field implementing teams; prepare detailed plans for monthly implementation of field activities and communicate it to the field teams.
  • Ensure that field teams have the resources (financial and promotional materials) needed to implement the plans.
  • Prepare for and participate in weekly and monthly meetings with the Communications team and the Sales and Distribution team, and other field implementation teams (programs division).
  • Liaise with procurement and logistics to ensure that there are no product stock outs.
  • Initiate market research needed to address problems, challenges, or opportunities, or to understand why brand objectives are not being met. .
  • Responsible for directing/guiding advertising agencies to support the design and development of promotional materials for each the brands.
  • Responsible for collecting market intelligence on competition that have direct impact on the brands’ performance including
  • Competitor brands’ strategies, prices, and promotion Collecting feedback from customers on performance of UHMG brands o Responsible for developing appropriate and timely responses to market feedback.
  • Identify new business opportunities for brand growth.
  •  Inform the sales team and other field implementing teams on the products and the brand strategies.
  • Launch activities for new brands.
  • Carry out regular monitoring and reporting on brand performance, specifically
  • Receive and review sales reports on a weekly and monthly basis, by region; compare actual sales with targets, Work with sales team to identify field challenges that deter achievement of targets and initiate appropriate and timely action- to address problems, Prepare a monthly report on the progress of the brand including sales, expenses, promotions carried out during the month, competitor information, new business opportunities, and plan for the subsequent month.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Mass Communication.
  • Post Graduate qualifications and Masters Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, CIM, or their equivalent in related fields is an added advantage.
  • Computer Literacy is essential. At least 2 years experience in managing brands, especially in product introduction, development, and growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication ability.
  • Good managerial and organizational abilities.
  • Good people skills for dealing with both corporate management and with the larger community.
  • Should be a person of integrity, energetic, dynamic team player, and portray innovation.

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to improve accessibility of professional quality maternal and child health services through the private health sector facilities. On the other hand, UHMG is aiming at improving behavioral practices at a household level so as to prevent situations that threaten the health of both the mother and the child.
This position requires an innovative person with specific hands on knowledge and skills in planning, designing, implementing and monitoring maternal and child health programs especially in prevention activities, with an understanding of social cultural and economic issues related to maternal child health. The person should be results-driven, able to deliver on set targets, with networking capabilities, and able to manage competing priorities.

Essential Job Functions:
The MCH Officer will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:-  . -
  • Build the capacity of Good life clinics to offer quality MCH services.
  • Amend existing MOUs with selected GLCs and orient owners/ In-charges on 2011/2012 UHMG work plan.
  • Conduct MCH trainings for service providers from selected Good life clinics (IMCI, Goal oriented ANC and basic (EMOC)
  • Procure and distribute MCH basic equipment and supplies to selected Good life clinics.
  • Procure and distribute MCH data collection tools for the Good life clinics.
  • Guide and mentor the providers in selected Good life clinics to implement the integrated package of MCH services through continuous on-site support supervision using nationally approved guidelines and policies.
  • Stock the Good life clinics with UHMG promoted health products.
  • Regular monitoring, documentation and timely reporting of progress both at the health facility and community level using appropriate reporting tools.
Minimum Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Public health or Social sciences;
  • A medical background by training or through work exposure is an added advantage;
  • Excellent knowledge and sound understanding of current issues and developments in the field of Maternal health, Family planning and Child health.
  • Good report writing and presentation skills coupled with good knowledge of Ms. Office programs including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • At least 3 years experience working in Reproductive Health or Maternal and Child health programming.
  • Experience in working with National and community MCH intervention programs;
  • Specific hands- on knowledge and skills in Planning, designing, implementing and monitoring maternal and child health programs especially in prevention approaches.
  • Should be flexible, team players, innovative, with proposal writing skills.
