Dwelling Places (DP)
is a registered Christian Non Governmental Organization
(NGO) which specialises
in the rescue, rehabilitation, reconciliation, resettlement and follow-up of
children living on the streets. The overall objective of DP is to have a
society where every child has a chest to rest their head on and a place to call
home.
Job Summary:  The Rebuild Social Worker (Karamojong and Swahili Speaking) will
participate in street outreaches, participate in the reconciliation of  children with their families, communities and
resettling them in a safe environment or find suitable foster families for the
children whose tracing or reconciliation has failed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Outreaches
·        
Interpret
for the Karamojong clients that do not understand English or Luganda during
outreaches, resettlements and any other meetings held.
·        
Assist in
planning and mapping street outreaches
·        
Participate
in the annual planning and budgeting for outreach activities
·        
Participate
in the preparation of  requisitions and
account for the funds received within 5 working days
·        
Participate
in the collection of data and ensure proper documentation of the rescue
information
.
·        
Assist
in Identifying children that fit the DP category (children living on the
streets part time or full time aged 12 years and below) and recommend for
recruitment on the DP program
.
·        
Participate
in the proper documentation for the children and open the files (Recruitment
forms, CSI baseline, photographs, consent forms for children with parents or
guardians, referral letters, photos etc.)
.
·        
Assist
in organizing transport for the children from the streets to the Transitional
Rehabilitation Home
.
·        
Participate
in referring  children that do not fit in
the DP support categories to other organizations
·        
Participate
in home tracing  for children found on
the streets that do not need the rehabilitation home
·        
Participate
in  debrief meetings
·        
Write
weekly reports and submit them by end of business Friday.
·        
Participate
in tracing/ resettlement and follow-up activities whenever the street outreach
role is inactive especially in areas of Katwe, Kisenyi and the streets for
further engagement.
Resettlement
·        
Participate
in conducting pre and post -tracing counseling for all the children in the
rehabilitation that are ready for tracing
·        
Accompany
the children outside Karamoja to trace their homes
·        
Participate
in mediation to facilitate the reconciliation between the child and the parent
/ family and community in general
·        
Assess
the child’s family to identify the needs and develop a support plan
·        
Organize
holiday visits for the children to build relationship with their families/parents
·        
Participate
in mobilization of traced families for monthly visits in the home and
facilitate reconciliation
·        
Participate
in individual and group counseling for the child and the parents/guardians
·        
Refer
the families that need economic empowerment to the Business and Sustainability
Manager for assessment, training and support
·        
Participate
in parental training sessions for families based on the assessed need
·        
Participate
in the Planning and budgeting for resettlement of the children in liaison with
other programs and partners
·        
Participate
in conducting pre and post resettlement counseling for children/families
·        
Accompany
children back home and hand them over to their family and local leaders as
stipulated in the guidelines for working with street children
·        
Assist
in compiling tracing information for the children in Karamoja and share it with
Karamoja based staff/ partners for tracing
·        
Participate
in the planning and organizing of children/youth camps
·        
Write
and submit weekly and monthly reports on time.
·        
Any
other roles as assigned by the line manager

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·        
The
ideal candidate must hold a diploma in Social Work or Social Sciences or
related field
·        
At least
two years of related work experience
·        
Ability
to collect data and analyse the success and failure of programs
·        
Ability
to produce clear written documentation
·        
Proven
work with children
·        
Self
motivation and management
·        
Willing
to travel into remote villages.
·        
Fluent
in English, two passport size photos
