About US:
Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. is a German Christian non-governmental
organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid, ambulance
service, social service programmes and other projects in the medical and social
field. The Federal Headquarters are based in Berlin, Germany. Johanniter
International Assistance is the operational unit for humanitarian aid,
development co-operation and emergency relief, implementing and supporting
mostly health projects worldwide. Johanniter have opened a Country Office in
Uganda end of 2017 with the aim to provide both humanitarian and development
assistance to refugees as well as host communities in Uganda. In close
collaboration with national partner organisations Johanniter runs community
health activities that also include the dimensions of nutrition, WASH and
livelihoods.
Job Summary: The Logistics
Officer will be tasked with the management of all supply and technical
logistics related processes of Johanniter- Unfall- Hilfe eV activities in
Uganda while ensuring compliance with domestic, Johanniter and donor
regulations as well as optimal use of resources and sound documentation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Ensure
    compliance with Johanniter’s procurement procedures, government obligatory
    regulations and donor guidelines and assuring all s
    upporting
    documents are available.
  • Management
    of procurement processes and adherence to Johanniter and donor rules and
    regulations, inspection of quality of received goods and provision of list
    of pre-approved suppliers including independent planning of
    project
    procurements in line with Johanniter and donor procurement guidelines as
    well as national law
  • Ensure
    transparency (including all related documentation), best price-quality
    ratio, non-discriminatory and ethical procurement. Participate in and supp
    ort
    the management and provide supervision of all Johanniter and Partner
    procurement for all projects (e.g. tenders, selection of supplier,
    contract design, monitoring).
  • Provide
    training to partners to ensure compliance with Johanniter and donor
    regulati
    ons
  • Register
    and update all procurements in the Procurement Tracker as well as keeping
    up to date Inventory List
  • Participate
    in budget development and project narratives on logistical aspects and
    requirements
  • Monitor
    all procurement and transport pro
    cesses in relation to project work
    plans
  • Administer
    the stock of project materials before delivery to project sites and keep
    proper documentation of delivered project materials
  • Plan
    and organize transport and delivery of project goods and taxi manageme
    nt
    to ensure efficient and timely transport and staff movement
  • Brief
    staff members on transport safety (what to do in case of accidents, first
    aid kits etc. support other departments in procurement and transport
    issues as they arise)
  • Responsible
    for ma
    intenance and supervision of necessary repairs at Johanniter
    team house
  • Responsible
    for ensuring proper use and maintenance of all IT and communication
    equipment
  • Focal
    point for security company and team house guards
  • Support
    the Office in other admin
    istration related tasks
  • Carry
    out any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Mission



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The
    ideal candidate for the
    Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. Logistics
    Officer job placement should be
    a qualified Logistician (B. Com Logistics or similar) or similar
    educational field
  • At
    least three years of work
    ing experience in Logistics and technical
    support with international NGOs or similar
  • Excellent
    verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong
    organizational, planning, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge
    of procurement guidelines of donor organiz
    ations
  • Knowledge
    and good understanding of logistical procedures
  • Multi-tasking
  • Proven
    ability to work independently and as part of an international team
  • Proven
    ability to work with limited resources
