About URA:
The Uganda Revenue Authority
(URA) was established by the Uganda Revenue Authority Statute of 1991 and set
up in September of the same year as a central body for assessment and
collection of specified revenue, to administer and enforce the laws relating to
such revenue and to provide for related matters. This statute incorporated all
the laws that were in force then regarding tax collection. The new organization
(URA) amalgamated the three tax administration departments that were
responsible for all the taxes collected by the Central Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Officer
Research and Revenue Modeling will research and analyze revenue related macro
data, policies and sectors in line with the Corporate Strategy to facilitate
decision making and revenue administration

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicants for the URA Officer Research and Revenue Modeling job
    opportunities should hold honors Degrees in Economics, Statistics,
    Quantitative Economics or closely related field from recognized
    Institutions
  • Possession
    of a post Graduate qualifications in Economics, Statistics, Quantitative
    Economics, Policy Analysis or a closely relevant field will be an added
    advantage
  • Specialized
    Training in Data Analysis Tools such as STATA, EpiData etc
  • One
    year of experience in Data Analysis and statistics work in a big
    organization with hands on experience in the application of Statistical
    Analysis Tools such as STATA, SPSS, EpiData, IDEA, etc
  • Research
    related training especially in econometrics, research methods and other
    closely related fields
  • A
    demonstrated interest, knowledge and hands on experience of tax policy and
    administration and Microsoft applications
  • Previous
    experience in monitoring and evaluation as well as project management.
  • Knowledge
    of Tax Laws of Uganda and their practice
  • Knowledge
    of the URA Risk Management Policy
  • URA
    Tax Administration Processes
  • Effective
    communication, report writing and presentation Skills
  • Possession
    of personal drive to deliver results with or without supervision.
  • Ability
    to apply flexibility and diplomacy in the execution of given assignments.
  • Ability
    to analyze data using specialized statistical data analysis tools.
  • Ability
    to work with/lead and build strong teams.
  • Good
    interviewing and investigative skills.
